Hmmmmm I saw this on a bill board and thought there is my problem. I know you are suppose to eat just til you are satisfied and not full but for someone who actually loves food, how do you start to associate food with nutrition and not someonething you love?

The South Beach plan tells you to "eat until satisfied" and doesn't limit most of the allowed foods. Years ago when I first followed SB I didn't count calories and had a lot of trouble losing on phase 2 because I know I was eating too much even though it was all healthy. This time around I aim for 1300 calories and have been much more successful. I find when I eat all of the veggies SB recommends (about 5 cups/day) and plenty of protein I have no problem being satisfied and often full.0

I start by giving myself smaller portions. Then, I eat until I feel 80% full. Often, it takes the brain a bit longer to realize that it's actually full. So if you eat to 80%, then after a few minutes your brain recognizes that you are actually completely full (satisfied, but not stuffed). Then I put my plate away, so I'm not tempted to over-eat. I also tell myself (especially if something's extra delicious) that I can have more tomorrow, and I definitely make sure I have left-overs so that I'm not lying to myself, haha.
I definitely still love food! And, you can make healthy, lighter options that are amazing and flavorful.0
