I crave steak and burritos on a daily or hourly basis. Sometimes more. And I get that craving to go away with a Chipotle burrito or a 12oz steak. When I do it, i just make sure it fits in my calories. There is NO reason to deprive yourself or it will fail.

I agree....complete deprivation will end up equaling failure. We still want to enjoy life and enjoy food...a piece of chocolate cake is fine once in a while, in moderation, as long as it fit into your caloric goals. When I indulge, I make sure to SAVOR EVERY BITE. (Because lets be honest, in the past, a piece of cake could be gone without my even remembering that much about eating it). I ate a small bite of chocolate the other day and when my husband spoke to me, I shushed him, told him I was focused on enjoying a special treat with no disruptions! haha...worth it though...had I listened to him or had a conversation I would not have been as satisfied.

Generally, when I have cravings it's almost always for chocolate. The double edged sword, for me, is that when I indulge, I almost always crave it even MORE for the next day or two on top of it.

I try to power through it except for special occasions, because once I get past it (in about two days, lol) the craving goes away and tends to stay away - until I grab a candy bar without thinking about it, lol.
  • I find a way to make a healthy version of what I crave. I have carob powder in my breakfast every day. I crave chocolate but it raises my blood pressure so carob is a close sub. it takes care of my chocolate craving before it even happens. haven't had a real craving in a while. on a rare occasion I crave something fried...in that case I just have some good fats since I figure that's what my body really wants. don't feel deprived at all.

When I crave, I sometimes eat just a serving of whatever it is. And I fit it into my daily calories. I try not to deny myself too much. I've noticed in the past when I tried losing weight, I'd deny myself and then just totally lose it and splurge. Eating something you like in moderation is fine.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS! Chocolate. On Monday I said I was going to give it up for 40 days. On Tuesday I asked God to forgive me because I couldn't do it. I ate the chocolate.
