Thanks for the encouragement, I think I need to get myself back to how I was at the start and make sure I am recording everything that I eat. At least with spring coming extra exercise is hopefully easier. Thanks for the tips guys x0

I plateaued for a week, then cut out dairy and began losing weight Good luck though!0

I plateaued for 3 weeks but I fought through it. I changed up what I was doing in the gym and I changed my diet to eat cleaner. Nothing was happening and then all of a sudden I lost 2 lbs and then 3lbs the next week. Don't give up!!0

Hello All,
I too have been stuck for a few weeks, i was on vacation for 6 days beginning of month, i had gained 6 pounds. I knew I would gain some, I had lost 4 of the pounds, but I am stuck. Prior to vacation I was stuck too, i had lowered my calories, then I increased them for a few days, i was going to the gym everyday as well, and didnt loosed. I only lost about 1/4 in off my waist.
I welcome any suggestions..thanks0 -
Before I found MFP I had lost over 4 stone.
Same thing happened to me, I lost the first two stone and I stuck for nearly 8 weeks.
I think it's just your body adjusting to the changes.
Don't get disheartened just keep going and the weight should start to drop again0 -
Thank you for all the positive messages and great advice, going to mix up the exercise and be stricter with logging everything I eat and drink and keep at it and see what happens. On the plus side I suppose it stuck and didn't go up!!0

Same here, its getting annoying now!
Eat more, eat less, more weights more cardio! #confused
Will watch this topic with interest.0 -
Oh wow, your doing so well. Dont give up. Even though you dont see the changes when you step on the scales..your body is still changing. Keep going x0

Be strict with recording food. Have you tried varying your exercise routine? That has worked for me0
-
how many calories do u eat a day?
This.
I have varied it to see if anything works, tried eating below and then tried giving myself a break, nothing seems to have worked, but going to keep going0 -
Oh I hear you and I so feel for you!
I too, will watch this with interest and maybe we both can move forward again:bigsmile:
I have only intensified my exercise, a little I feel, catalogued, measured, weighed, logged everything and lost zero for weeks and now the ultimate insult, gained 1/2 kg in last week, why?
So so disheartening and frustrating:brokenheart:
I will support and encourage you and hope that you are back on track and happier soon, good luck:flowerforyou:0 -
Great advice. Thanks!0

Yep, I've plateaued too - and I'm not even sure how to spell it. Only thing I would suggest is to take some measurements and keep an eye on those as well as your weight. I've lost inches, but the scale has actually gone up by 1lb over the past 3 weeks. Also note how your clothes feel on you. I have a pair of low rise skinny jeans that are a good indicator!
Feeling your pain. Wish I could be of more help. Come back to the boards and let us know how you're getting on.

how long did you stick to these variations before you varied them again?
patience is so key here.
also search "in place of a roadmap" on here.
primrose makes an excellent point about scale number vs measurements.0 -

YES to people's suggestions to look up "In Place of a Road Map". Dan knows his stuff. I was eating about 1300-1400 calories a day (lower than my BMR) and still exercising like a nutjob. I've probably slowed my metabolism down to snail's pace because of this mistake. I've upped my calories over the past few weeks, and am starting to see improvements as my metabolism gets back on course.
Regardless of what changes you decide to make, have patience. Stick with your changes for a month or two to really see if it works or not. A week or two here and there won't tell you anything beneficial.
I've been at a plateau/SUPER slow progress on the scale for a LONG time now (Like, since November). However, in that time I've dropped from a size 8 to a size 4. So really, the scale is a big liar most times. Less emphasis on scale, more emphasis on measurements. Especially if you're getting closer to that 'goal weight'.0 -
Hi everyone, well I gave myself a little break this weekend, and had a couple of glasses of wine (large) had given up drinking for my diet, but was out with friends, and a couple of naughty snacks this weekend, and even had a lazy day yesterday (well as much as you can with three kids) and I made a little loss ! I had still been doing my walking etc and had walked quite a lot. But still !?!? Answers anyone??
Going to add in some different exercise this week and I love my veg and water in answer to now or nevers post.
Hope everyone had a good weekend :happy:0 -
I have also plateaued. I blew out my ACL last August, had the surgery then gained about 15 pounds over the course of 3 months. I have since lost all that weight and am back to what I was before my surgery, but have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks.
I work out every day, rarely go over my net calorie goal (but do sometimes). getting frustrated.0 -
Don't know if it will help you, but I increased my fiber and water intake when I had plateaued for a long time and then I began losing with .6 lb loss. I have continued to eat at about 25-35 grams of fiber a day. Do not get hungry in between meals and I don't get junk food added in because I'm to busy trying to get in the required grams of fiber. This is working nicely for me. Fiber foods are very healthy to begin with, so works for me!
Good luck breaking your plateau!0 -
I plateaued for over a year, yes a year of going between the same couple of lbs.
Since the middle of January I have eaten cleaner and upped myself from 1200kcal to 1440kcal plus some exercise kcals (not because I avoid eating them, but because I get full), and I've lost a further 8.something lbs since then.0 -

Ahhhh maybe that is what I did this weekend, I ate a lot of fruit!!! maybe that is what helped and drank more water being aware of drinking alcohol.0 -
Fat turns to water first then is expelled by the body. Give it time.0

You need to be more patient. When you adjust, you need to wait a month to see if there are results. You will not see results withing a few days or a week most of the time. If you want to break a plateau, set your account to maintain for a week and do NOT exercise. Actually hit your calorie goal ever day +/- 100 calories. Then set a smaller weight loss goal per week. If it was 2 lbs, set it at 1 lb. If you didn't eat exercise calories, start eating them.0
