Hey, I hope everyone is having a delightful day so far. I'm not I just missed out on Beyonce tickets in the fan presale O well I'll try again tomorrow.
Anyway enough about my problems (which aren't really that bad :P )
I have good hemp protein powder as I'm veggie and not eating an amazing diet so though I'd try upping my protein. I'm finding it hard to mix. It's very gritty and not to pleasant unless it's mixed with fruit smoothy. Are all protein powders like this or have I just got a bad brand?
Would you recommend getting a different type or should I be able to mix it down better. I shake the shaker for quite a while quite hard but I guess I could always blend it?
Thanks in advance and have a good day
Kyle

I use PHD diet vanilla whey (don't know if it's vegetarian, sorry). I will admit I always blend mine as it gives it a lovely texture and volume (I have a Vitamix though so anything I put in it blends well  )
Definitely recommend blending it if you can0 -
I'll give the blender a go then. Cheers0

Best protein powder out there in my opinion is Syntrax Nectar. The Fuzzy Navel flavor is the best: http://www.amazon.com/SynTrax-Protein-Isolate-2-Pound-Plastic/dp/B001180348/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361541599&sr=8-2&keywords=syntrax+nectar
Mixes pretty well, especially if you use one of these; http://www.amazon.com/Sundesa-BB28-MC01-BlenderBottle®-Classic-28-ounce/dp/B0018G4ZEW/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1361541623&sr=1-1&keywords=blender+bottle0 -

This ^ or any of the Syntrax Matrix flavors. Syntrax powder mixes with just a spoon, or shake of a bottle (even without the blender ball in it). They are also pretty tasty and an overall good protein source. The Nectar is a quick release protein for use right after a workout. Matrix is a quick+medium+sustained release protein that gives you the quick for right before/after a workout, plus a sustained for a meal replacement. So which ever applies to you.
In Matrix my favorite flavors are Orange Cream, Mint Cookie, any of the Vanillas, Cookies & Creams, Strawberry Cream - I didn't care for the Perfect Chocolate but A LOT of people do.0 -
A couple options when Protein isn't mixing well.
#1. Add more liquid, thus takes longer to drink and sometimes is a lot more liquid.
#2. Change type of protein. Hemp protein and Pea proteins have a tendency to be a bit more grainy. A blender can sometimes fix this.
#3. Water vs Milk vs Almond Milk vs Half Milk/Water combo.. The liquid you use to mix makes a difference as well.
#4. If you are spoon stirring stop right now, get a blender bottle.0 -
Ai Sports has a Pea Based Protein with some flavors I like. Pumpkin Pie tastes pretty awesome, the vanilla is really good. The candy cane that came out around Christmas time wasn't too shabby. Pumpkin pie was probably my favorite flavor.0

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the blender bottles if the blender helps things. Also I think I'll get some almond milk this afternoon to try that as well. Thanks again0

Highly recommend almond milk in it. Very nice. Or Kara coconut milk is pretty good too. That pea protein sounds pretty good, wonder if I can source it here?0

make sure the almond milk you get doesn't have carrageenan in it!! it's a thickener/stabaliser used in dairy and non dairy things and although the research isn't conclusive, it's been linked to intestinal inflammation and even colon cancer....... also you're right, good hemps protein powder isss a bit grainy.. blending it might work, but i suggest spirulina instead0
