Crazed over the scale

For about a year i was on weight watchers and did light exercise. I first weighed in at 222 and I lost 35 pounds but my body just kinda went soft aka flabby (argh) So I decided to switch it up. I started hitting the gym hard around September. I am there 6 days a week.1-2 hours a day doing anything from zumba - uxf burn. I recently joined mfp - eating healthier then ever and feeling good. All of a sudden my family and friends are commenting on my weight loss more so then they did when I lost the 35pds. However, the scale has hardly budged since changing it up. I've only lost 5 pds since sept, but i'll assume i'm gaining muscle.
Things are fitting me now that didn't fit before...and I'm not even talking about clothes..i'm talking about bracelets..rings..socks..things you don't put much thought into. I am happy about my progress, and how great I've been feeling..but the scale not budging is driving me insane!
So my question is..should I be doing something else to make the scale move?? or should i throw the scale away and stop worrying about the number so much? Not sure if I should rejoin WW..maybe get a fitness armband to track calories better? I have been a bit crazed about this lately. You guys are always so motivating and helpful..i figured I would turn to you for some advise. Can anyone relate to my this?

Ditch the scale for awhile or limit yourself to one weekly weigh-in. I had to do that. Also, take measurements and progress pics. Take note of how things are fitting. Don't get hung up on the number if you look and feel better. If you're lifting weights, you may have gained a bit of muscle, although not really enough to effect the scale all that much. However, you likley aren't losing muscle which is part of the reason why the scale isn't moving as fast, but you're noticing a difference in how things fit. If you've really upped the intensity or weren't working out much before, your muscles could also be retaining water, this should even out after awhile. I know it's frustrating because it seems everything is measured by the scale. But, you're obviously doing something right, so keep it up!0

Especially for WOMEN! You will tend to lose BF% and notice phyiscal changes way before the scale moves. Body Composition is a huge difference in women. Here's how it works
1. - BF% will tell you how much your losing fat
2. - Measurements will tell you where your losing fat
3. - Keep on Track
4. - Keep on Track
100th.- The scale will catch-up when all of the above have been met and you've already bought smaller cloths...go figure
So, measure...measure ......measure ...every 3-4 weeks. Weigh in once a month or not at all...the scale is a tool...but not the best. Measurements are the best and if I going to do something, why not use the best tool!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....YOUR DOING AWESOME!0 -

Agreed, scales are evil. My weight has only budged 0.8 lbs in the last 3 weeks, but I can see the changes on my body & how clothes are fitting me. In the last month I have lost 2 inches!!! Keep up the measuring & destroy your scale!! lol :laugh:0
