Help figuring goal...food...exercise...net!

Here's what my thing says:

Goal1210 Food551 Exercise- 282 Net 269

I understand that exercise is what I have exerted so far today.
And that food I have eaten so far is 551

What is Goal and Net though (besides lots of sports!)

    Goal is what you need to eat before exercise.

    If you exercise you eat those back.

    Net is Food-exercise

    MFP takes assumes you do not exercise, so your goal is based on that. Any exercise is a bonus and is meant to be eaten back. Your net is the key number.

    So should the net be 0 or - or something above 0? in order to lose the pound a week?

    Your net should be your daily calorie goal... or 1210

    You are missing one number - REMAINING.

    If you are using MFP's methods, and trust the calorie burn figures you have entered, then you should eat those remaining calories, or get them as close to Zero as possible.
