whey protein help!!!

protein is my most difficult macro-nutrient to obtain because I eat very little meat and don't really like beans and soy products. Most days I get enough from my breakfast shakes, dairy products, yogurt, eggs, nuts, and whole grains. But when I start Turbo Fire with weighted gloves in march, I am going to need about 10-15 more grams per a day.
I am looking at protein and there are just SO many options. I was wondering if people could educate me about a few things. Are there ingredients I need to avoid? are there ingredients I need to find? I know I want to find a powder that includes glutamine, because I know from medical school how incredibly important that amino acid is for function and transport, in particular, of amino acids throughout the body. but I don't really know much else.
someone had suggested whey concentrate if drinking it sort of off hand during the day but whey isolate if drinking immediately following a workout. anyone know why that might be? or if thats true?
Any other advice? I'm hoping to spend about $15-20. And I would like to avoid having to buy these giant 52 gram tubs when I only want to add half a scoop a day.

Protein Isolate is better absorbed by the body. 1st Step brand is affordable and in a smaller container. The vanilla or chocolate is very good when mixed with milk, but you can mix it with any beverage. I did try it with coffee and found milk works best. It is available at Walgreens or Kroger (I think). It is around 12.00 or so maybe a little more0

Although it's not cheap, I'd recommend BioTRUST Low Carb protein powder if you are really intent on buying a quality product. There are many factors that put this head and shoulders above all other protein powders out there.
Rather than trying to explain it all, here is the url below you can research it and decide for yourself. I know you didn't want to buy a lot but in this case, buying in bulk will save you some money and it will last a lot longer if you aren't taking the full serving size. Good luck!

I buy the Premier Protein Bars at Costco. They have 30 grams of protein each and cost about a dollar per bar (they come in 24 bar boxes) and they're not bad - the chocolate crunch and chocolate peanut butter are actually pretty good - but not so good that I'm tempted to eat the whole box. The yogurt peanut crunch bar, not so much yummy, but edible.

I buy the Jillian Michaels protein powder. It costs about $15 at Walmart, I like the vanilla flavor. Sometimes I drink it just as a shake but sometimes I put it in a fruit smoothie with yogurt and fresh fruit too! It is a good source of protein and low in sugars content!0
