Need help
I'm on a very low budget right now as I'm only 20, most of my money goes towards my daughter, just lost my job and moved back in with my parents. The only things I have to cook and eat right now is chicken, celery, turnip greens, salad, carrots and the rest is canned food. I'm having a hard time figuring out meals to cook for just me since i'm the only one in the house who's on a diet. for the past few days i've pretty much had the same thing over and over. I need some inexpensive, healthy foods to buy the next time i'm at the store. Today i ran out of things to cook cause I was STARVING and I wasnt about to wait an hour to make chicken again so I ended up making two bratwurst and it came to over 600 cals! Thinking about chicken is actually making me nauseous /: I'd reaaally appreciate some cheap very healthy recipes and things to get at the store.

Some easy low cal low cooking meal ideas:
FF or Low fat hotdogs (Hebrew national FF dogs are 45 cal each), add some popchips or carrot chips.
Ham Steak and eggs (brinner) Ham steak can be found pretty cheap and it is low calorie (27 calories per oz). Or you could buy a smithfield pre-sliced ham for around $7, and have PLENTY of leftovers for lunch or many other meals.
Manwich premixed tub. Sloppy joe tub for around $5 low calorie and you can get a few meals out of it.
Also, being that you lost your job, start clipping coupons to help make some of the more expensive items a little cheaper. Check for printable coupons and good sales here:

Eggs, beans, rice, onions, ham bone. If you have a canned food grocery outlet in your area or other liquidator store shop there first. Look for ground turkey or frozen fish at those places. Cut coupons for tuna or canned salmon. Follow the seasons for produce. Like right now is apple and grapefruit season. Later it will be berries and melons. And so on. Because you are so young you will need to put in some time educating yourself. Search for recipes on skinny taste and hungry girl.com. hope that helps.0

Go through your local grocery store's flyers and plan meals according to what's on sale or cheap. Use websites like allrecipes.com and epicurious.com to figure out new ways to combine basic ingredients. Also, when meat is on sale, buy a lot and freeze it.0

What is everyone else eating? There is no need to have special diet food unless the rest of the family is having chicken fried steak.0

Alright thanks guys
And I'm definitely not eating what they eat. They eat out all the time and are chips and really greasy foods kinda people.0 -
I feel really proud of you that you are making these healthy choices with a bubba and living with a family that eats crap all the time!
I'm a single parent with 4 kids and I work full time, the only way I manage is I do all my cooking for the week on the weekend and freeze it in individual serves.
I need it to be cheap so I buy some chicken, a few bags of frozen veg, I buy maybe bulk mince on special and I make a few different things.
I am happy to offer any advice if you need it! You are awesome!0
