Thanks! I love shamrock shakes so I can't wait to try this lighter version. Although I may still need to try the orginal again just for test purposes of course ;-)0

green food coloring
Honestly, I am failing to grasp the appeal of this concept.
So it's green for St. Patrick's day...
I like the person's idea with almond milk & protein powder.
What about using plain yogurt (regular or greek) and like slightly freezing it?0 -
BUMP for Becky0

So it's green for St. Patrick's day...
Likewise, I don't get red velvet cake.
The spinach idea sounds like something I might try.0 -

I didn't get red velvet cake either until I learned they used to color it with beets. That I might try.0 -
i would just like to announce that i tried the shamrock shake at mcdonalds its pretty good. minty...
i think i would want to make on at home better0 -
Sounds good! I haven't tried it, but I think I would do this:
1 scoop Vanilla protein powder
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
a little sugar or splenda
peppermint extract
green food coloring
ice
im not a big fan of the ones from mcdonalds - but love jack in the box ones. more of a mint oreo kinda thing iirc
would try it this way once and then once with spinach instead of the food coloring and see if theres much of a taste difference0 -
bump. I love those damn shamrock shakes.0

i was going to try a shamrock shake at mcdonalds for the first time but i didnt know if it was good or not... ?? is it...
I go to McDonald's once a year and that's it. A friend and I go every year on St Patty's day and get a shamrock shake and fries.
It's totally worth it as a once a year treat.
I'd also comment that I hate Hungry Girl's use of chemical fake foods, but food from McDonald's is just as full of chemicals and artificial flavors so this recipe's a win if you just want to cut down on the calories.0 -
Thank you for posting this!0
