Can someone please explain this to me? (Scale anomaly)

So I ate very well all week -- nutritious and within calories and macros. (Generally: lower carb, lower sugar.) I worked out ever night. Yesterday morning... before my doctor appointment, I weighed in at 187.8. Yesterday, I went to yoga in the morning and zumba after work (just 1/2 hour cause I wasn't feeling it)... And proceeded to eat like crap. I had pasta, rolls, tomatoes, cheese, cake with frosting and soda. I proceeded to go to bed at 8 and wake at 7... for a rare 11 hour sleep. Today I stepped on the scale and it says 185.4?? Is my scale broken? Or was my body feeling deprived of carbs and/or sleep and finally felt OK to release it.

My diary is open.

There could be a lot of reasons for this. It is likely that it is water weight. People can fluctuate as much as 5 lbs in either direction within a 24 hour period. I know I usually fluctuate about 2 lbs up or down. When you exercise, your body will retain water to help repair the muscles as well as take care of other functions, hence the term "water retention."

Also, could be digesting food in your system (aka poop).

I mean just think about all the stuff that enters and leaves your body within a day. All that stuff has weight, even sweat.

It's not an immediate thing. Just because you ate like crap doesn't mean the scale will immediately go UP. And just because you have an awesome calorie burn during an exercise and eat well doesn't mean the scale will immediately go DOWN. You have to look at it over a longer period of time, several days or even a week.

I agree. I slip up all the time and it doesnt immediately show on the scale. I had a big plate of chinese food last night and today I weighed in and LOST weight.. Just get back on track and continue to make good choices.

Thanks for the replles. I know water weight plays a role... its just that usually when I eat like crap it shows up the next morning. I officially weigh in once a week... was just curious this morning.
