Today I hooked up my IPOD fitness to my run on the treadmill and had 100 calorie difference,I was at the YMCA as usuall I programmed my IPOD with weight & height and all the info from the run was the same except for the calories burned. So is this common with treadmills? Or do I have to load the same info to a often used treadmill.

Invest in a heart rate monitor, it's the most accurate reading you're going to get. I've had machines tell me I burn 100 more, or 100 less sometimes than my HRM! I have the Polar FT4 and love it. A lot of cardio machines sync to them and tell you your heart rate as you're working out (or you could just look down at the watch :P )0

The estimates for running on MFP are actually pretty good. For house cleaning, not so much.0

I have found MFP to be pretty accurate! I use a heart rate monitor when I'm on the treadmill, and the difference between what MFP says and what the HRM says is only marginal, something like 20 calories at the most0

What I forgot to mention this sites calcuator was very close to the reads on my IPOD0

When I use the machines, my heart rate is pretty accurate to what my HRM says however, yes, the calorie count is usually 100 calories (give or take a few) off. Normally it says 100 calories more than my HRM.0
