Smell/sight of foods causing nausea?

Are there any foods for you which the sight, smell, feel, taste etc of make you feel nauseous?

For me, bananas (anything about them) and apple cores make me feel ill. If I see an apple core, I feel incredibly ill and the smell is even worse. Same for bananas. But I'm not a picky eater!

Surely I'm not the only one with these strange nausea triggers?

I've never admitted this on here, for fear of inciting an angry mob, but if I'm ill at all, the smell of bacon will make me vomit almost instantly. I do love bacon though, just not when I'm sick.
  • I love the smell of bacon, but I shouldn't admit that because I'm vegetarian. hah!

    black licorice
    gin
  • The smell of coffee has actually made me sick before. I can't be in the same room when it's brewing, and have to sit across the room from people who are drinking it. No idea why, I've tasted it before and wouldn't consider it disgusting exactly. I just can't stand to be around it.

I don't like the smell of cooking meat either. There's something called pinnekjøtt here (dried and smoked lamb ribs) that's very popular around Christmas, with a very strong smell that makes me nauseous. It's hard to avoid because it makes the whole grocery store smell of it.

At least half of the cooking smells, I hate these! Especially meat, fried onion, some soups and sauces... And fries!
Also I can´t stand grains of salt on top of bread rolls. There´s one kind I really love, but it has salt on top of it I have to pick every little grain first.
  • Raw meat is bad as well - but I think it is for most people.

When I wasn't a vegetarian I always had my steak very well done (nice and burnt and dry...lol)

if you get sick and have recently eaten something, you can develop an aversion to what you've eaten, even though it didn't actually cause you to get sick.

this happened to me about 15 years ago with a specific brand of spaghetti sauce. to this day, i can't even look at their label without getting a little queasy. other brands are not a problem, only the Classico brand.

That's probably what happened, I never really thought about it that way.. My mom said I stole a cup of coffee from her when I was 3 or 4, and had a bad reaction. I have Tourette's, and caffeine makes it really bad even now, it was much worse as a kid.

Not sight or smell, but mouth feel... of blueberries... The texture of trying to chew a fresh, raw blueberry makes me gag and I cannot, for the life of me, swallow even one. However, I've overcome this awkward dilemma by sticking any and all blueberries that come through the front door in the freezer! Frozen blueberries have a much more appealing texture to me. And now I eat a handful almost every day. :) Now if I could only conquer the vomit-inducing texture of avocados...

Edit: Also, for smell, MOLASSES. You will call me f@&$ing crazy, but to me, molasses smells like flipping fish left to ferment in the sun. *HURK* My boyfriend laughs every time we have an order for gingerbread at work. I pinch my nose and hold the molasses as far away from my body as possible while I pour and mix it. Dear god, that stuff is stanky!
  • for me its Macadamia Nuts

people rave about them, I only had to contribute to this thread to feel a little ill about them

I get nausea even thinking of artificial strawberry smells in pink&white coke bottle candies. I have no idea why but it has made me feel that way for years.

Since I've started eating healthy, the smell of greasy fast food makes me nauseous.
