I'm doing a 5k next month! It's my first race, and I'm planning on continuing my training to run a half (or maybe even a full?) next year! :)

I'm doing wrap up and run 10K on the 24th March, then Leeds half on 12th May and finally the York Plusnet marathon on 20th October :)
  • I'm doing a five k run in April. It's a 5k run to run from 'zombies'. I only lol because zombies are involved.

Just ran one yesterday! PR'ed and ran faster than I thought I would have (47:12, 7:31 per mile).

If you've mastered the 5K's and aren't feeling quite up for a half-marathon (or longer) the 10K is a good distance. I've run a handful of half-marathons this past year, personally I think it's a great distance, just long enough to feel physically tested, not so long that you need to really work on focus (that's the second biggest challenge according to all my full-marathoner friends).

But, a 10K is a good race, too. About 3 weeks ago, my wife and I ran a half-marathon relay, split 50/50, so just over 6.5miles each. She wanted to run it. And trained for about 12-15 weeks for it and did admirably, in my opinion. I ran my half at my own speed then ran her half with her at her pace. It was fun.

I digress...my point being that a 10K is a great race. And a pretty easy bridge from 5Ks in a quick turnaround. Good luck, and if you need some additional support and encouragement, feel free to add me to your friends list.
