Duration vs frequency?

Which would you say was more important with exercise - how often you do it or how long you do it for? For example, would it be better to do a 20min run 5 times a week or a 40min run 3 times a week?

It depends on what your goals are.
Either one, taken to an extreme value, will not give good results ((1) 7-hour workout per week vs (14) 1/2-hour workouts) per week)0 -
Depends on goals and intensity.
ie, running 20 minutes at 80% intensity and running 40 minutes at 50% intensity...etc.
Otherwise, same intensity, whatever accumulates the most time total?0 -

Makes sense! Shorter workouts are usually more intense, but longer workouts mean you'd be working out for more time overall. Goals are the usual~fitness & weight loss.0 -
