How do people swallow these things?
![pXL86.gif](http://i.imgur.com/pXL86.gif)
They are so nasty! I wish I was able to choke down stuff for the sake of "health," but I just can't. It has to TASTE GOOD for me to eat it. For the people who do use them, when did you start and why? How were you able to make yourself choke them down before you got used to the taste?

I just bought Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey double chocolate and it's good. In the past I have found some protein powders to be super sweet or just plain nasty, but this one is actually good.0

If you don't like them, don't eat them. You can get as good, or better benefits from eating regular food. They are a supplement.
I do like them, though, as long as I can blend them with milk, and fruit. There are several threads on this site where people have posted recipes for different shakes. You may want to try a few of them. I find frozen bananas to work well, and give the shakes an ice cream type texture, and flavor.0 -

I also use Optimum Nutrition--I don't know if mine's the same (i'm in the UK), but mine is called Gold Standard Whey. I buy it in huge 4.5 kg bags, but it does come in smaller sizes. I like the double chocolate flavour as well. I wouldn't say it tastes fantastic, and I would really REALLY prefer it didn't contain any artificial sweetener. That said, it's high quality protein and has other good stuff added to it (except for that fake sweet crap). It's not ideal, but it's working out ok. Ideally, I would probably get some sort of customised blend. That gets expensive, fast. I don't think I've got the cash to invest in that right now, but if I did have a bunch of money I could afford toss at protein powder, I'd go that route.
Whatever you do, see if you can get sample sizes of whatever you're interested in. The worst thing is to be stuck with a huge tub of protein powder you just can't use.0 -
Try blending it with fruit and milk. I like the eas vanilla cream with frozen strawberries, spinach and almond milk! Good breakfast on the go..0

I use Optimum Nutrition stuff too because Consumer Reports said it has less "bad stuff" in it. You can Google it.
I mix mine with milk or chocolate milk. Stuff is good and good for you.0 -
Proteinco is the only one I've tried that tastes good, not just tolerable. It has a short list of ingredients, sweetened with stevia, but not so much that it has an herbal after taste like Optimal Nutrition's natural line. Blech.
I've usually only tried chocolate in many other brands because I was told it masks the whey taste the best, but Proteinco vanilla and cookies n cream are good, too. I just finished sample packets that we bought online, and I'm about to order some big tubs. Reasonable prices, free shipping, no aspartame, they shake up and dissolve easily, no blender needed (which is a first for me) and free shaker cups with every order.
I am fully aware I sound like an infomercial, but I'm just thoroughly impressed.0 -
Jay Robb's protein powder in my opinion is the best, especially th pina colada flavor.0
