Any other guys doing Zumba?

Tuesday night, I decided to accompany my wife to her Zumba class.
I've since gone back twice.
I admit, I was a bit apprehensive at first. I didn't want to be the only dude there. Luckily there were a couple others. But hey, you could do worse I guess than being in a room with 40 women shaking their money-makers. And I've always been a fan of loud music, so that's another positive. And the calorie burn was crazy. My heart rate was frequently in the 170's. I easily burned over 1000 calories in an hour. That's at least comparable to what I could have achieved on the elliptical in the same amount of time, and it's a lot less tedious than the elliptical or treadmill.
My main problem is all the hip shaking. Maybe guys weren't made to shake their hips ... or maybe we just don't know how?
So ... Anybody else?

I love Zumba. And we have a guy that comes religiously. At first, I think we all thought he was there to pick up chicks  . But he really gets into it, and says its one of the best workouts he has ever gotten. Now he's a regular and we all miss him when he's not there. Sometimes in a class, we will have 5 guys or more, which is kind of cool.
I'm going to show your post to my hubby because I keep asking him to go and he has yet to do so. Let's see if I can use "peer pressure" to push him over the edge.0 -
My husband comes to my Zumba class sometimes and he's the only guy that goes! But he has a blast and the instructor is so excited to have a guy in her class. It really is a great workout and a whole lot of fun too!0

Hi everyone,
I'm a Zumba instructor in the UK. I'm doing some research for my blog this evening, this week its on guys doing Zumba classes and thats how I've come across this post.
I know its a little old as in the top post was written in 2010!! but I would still like to reply for anyone reading this. If you are a guy doing Zumba and your main worry is not being able to move your hips her are a few helpful hints to sort you out in class
1. bend your knees it frees your hips up to move
2. relax and enjoy, the more you let go the freer you will be to move
3. practise practise practise makes perfect- keep coming to class. Not even the girls get it first time round. It takes up time to build muscle memory!
Hope this helps!
