home made healthy pizza (with ONLY whole wheat flour)

I LOVE pizza! but its so bad for you.. i was determined to make my own at home and without white flour. I played around so many recipes until i came up with this one and i've never ordered another pizza since
1 1/4 c whole wheat flour
1/2 c fat free sour cream or greek yogurt
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
1 tbs oregano, 1 tbs garlic powder, pinch of salt and pepper (add these to your taste)
mix dry ingredients in one bowl, and wet ingredients into another bowl. then mix to two together. knead with hands, cover and refridgerate over night. roll out as thin as possible, adding flour to roll. bake at 400 until golden brown. add sauce and reduced fat cheese and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly
my fav pizza sauce -
2 cups cherry tomatoes - place on tin foil-covered cooking sheet. cover top with tin foil and bake at 425 for 35 minutes.
in a skillet, add 2 cloves of garlic, 1/2 medium sliced onion, and 1 tbs olive oil. sautee until light golden brown.
when tomatoes, onion, and garlic are cooled, put in blender and press "pulse" until saucy consistency. pour into a bowl, add oregano, lots of basil, salt and pepper (or whatever spices you want) mix and spread ontop of cooked pizza crust, then add cheese bake again until cheese is melted
* when im roasting the tomatoes in the oven, i add an extra cup of tomatoes to it - when the pizza is done, i put the extra roasted tomatoes and basil on top of the cheese and its sooo good

Oooh I LOVE wheat crust pizza! I've been making my own this past year, too. Never tried it with sour cream though, will have to give this a try next time I get the craving.
When I don't feel like making my sauce (which is most of the time, lol), Kroger has a tomato sauce with no sodium added. It's not with the pasta sauces, but with the canned vegetables where you can normally find things like tomato paste and stewed tomatoes, etc. After I started getting that, it just blows my mind when I do walk down the pasta aisle. WHY SO MUCH DAGGONE SODIUM in the labeled pasta sauce?!0 -
Did you do the nutrition calculation in a recipe here??... I wonder how it looks... how many servings will it do?.. How big (diameter) will the pie be?0

This looks like a really great recipe!!! I was looking at the pizza made with cauliflower crust but I don't think I would enjoy that as much as the wheat flour. Thanks for the great idea0

hey mistyfied, the sodium is the reason why i made my own sauce butt i actually like it better than store bought sauce! i didnt think i would when i was making it, but when i tasted it yumm..0

nvrest, for the crust = 450 the sauce = 77 and the cheese is how much you put on it i used reduced fat cheese with 2% milk.. i mix yellow and white cheese 1/4 cup of each for 1/4 of each part of the pizza and i have a picture of it when its done i just dont know how to put pictures up on here, it comes out really good! it looks like normal thin crust pizza but its like a big rectangle though because i bake it on parchment paper on a cookie sheet, its not a circle like traditional pizza0

oh and nvrest - the diameter of it im not sure, it covers the whole cookie sheet! its a big pizza because i roll the dough out really thin so that the crust is thin and crispy.. the serving size i do is 1/4 of the pizza (i cut the pizza into four sections.. there BIG peices) and how i did it was just add the crust calories, sauce calories, cheese calories and divide it by 40
