Am I the only one?

I'm weird. When I get dressed up and look at myself in the mirror, I think to myself "damn, you look good" and then I go on about my life all confident. THEN, I see a picture of myself and i'm like "WTFOMG#&@*#^@&*^#&@^" because I really didn't look as good as I thought I did.
:indifferent:
Does anyone else do this too?

I'm the other way. I look in the mirror and see all the problems then see a picture and can't believe I'm that small.0

Happens all the time. At least the day was good? More good days than bad are a plus in my book lol.0

I would rather be like you. It's like I have myself fooled and then I see reality. :sick:0

No you are not!I have the same problem, and it doesn't help that people are always telling me that I carry my weight well and don't need to lose not 60lbs.
I think people just get used to seeing a person at a certain size or something. These are the same people that told me I was getting "TOO THIN" when I got down to 170ish a few years ago...yeah ok...
I don't care how "well" I wear my weight,I am 5'3 and I weigh 195 and that IS very obese! and not good for my health and I am at an age where I need to do something about this before it starts affecting my health.I already have arthritis in my ankle from breaking it years ago so weightloss will help that for sure :happy:0 -
I'm with you OP. I hate pictures of myself and the only reason there are so many is because I repeatedly take them trying to find one even slightly close to what I see in the mirror. According to some people I just take bad pictures and my 16 yr old daughter told me I don't look anything like what the camera shows. I like to think the camera is messed up otherwise I would have the self esteem of a slug0

I mean, I still had a great time. I went and watched my husband play (he's a drummer) and I was out with my girlfriends. I had to meet a few people that I had never met before (friends of the husband) and so when I saw the picture of myself, I was annoyed.
It fueled me even more to reach my goal, that's for sure.0 -

I have perfected taking a picture of myself at the right angle.  It's other peoples pictures of me that send me into a pitty party.
And the thing is, I got a lot of compliments that night. It makes me wonder if i'm just being really hard on myself. But then again, I can't be. Some of the pictures were really not good.

I don't like myself in the mirror OR on photos. But I guess in the mirror I can suck in my tummy and turn this way and that to think I look a bit better. But a bad photo is fixed lol.0

I have tendency to give away control of my face to the photo-gods. I cant control the expressions when i have a camera/phone pointed at me and usualy end up looking like i'm very drunk or like my parents were /closely/ related.0

Nope, I'm exactly the same way. It's crazy how much thinner i think i look. Then i see a pic & i realize how out of shape i am. It almost makes it harder to stay motivated. I will lose a little weight and think, i look great, i can stop now. When in actuality, i need to keep on it. I now motivate myself by taking frequent bathing suit pics. I am an expert in dressing fit my shape and can make myself look much thinner in clothing but i can't hide in a bathing suit!0

This!!!
I am EXACTLY the same! Sometimes I’ll look in the mirror and I’ll think, WOW I look pretty good for a change. So I go out, confident and feeling great, jumping in all the photos and then when I look at them I want to throw up. I don’t look good. I look a disgrace. Then the thoughts kick in “Everyone’s laughing at you. You thought you actually looked good.” It’s a horrible place to be.
Since joining MFP however I am learning to stop these negative thoughts as they only stop me. They do nothing good, and will hold me back. You don’t have to love yourself, you don’t even have to like yourself (not immediately anyway) but you can not hate/dislike yourself because it will hold you back and you will hate yourself more. Break the vicious circle!0 -
OMG! Totally me! Perhaps we just aren't photogenic or something! What I see in the mirror is definitely not what I see in pictures!0

Yes, all the time! And it's annoying too, arrgg. I don't know if I take really bad pictures of it's it's a psychological thing I need to work on.0

Yes! I hate it... I think I look good and feel good, but the pictures tell something else.. >.>
though when I take progress pics they make me feel good..0
