One in three gym goers don't even break a sweat (as they're too busy ogling others and sitting in the spa)
Half complete a serious fitness routine, while the rest spend their time chatting or ogling the opposite sex
One in 10 are too embarrassed to get sweaty
A quarter spend more time in the sauna or hot tub than on exercise machines

One in three gym goers don't even break a sweat during their workout, a survey has revealed.
Just half complete a serious fitness routine, while the rest spend their time chatting with friends or checking out potential partners.
A quarter also owned up to spending more time relaxing in the sauna or hot tub than they do on any of the exercise machines.
Meanwhile one in 10 like to 'chill out' by the pool while one in 20 go along to watch football matches on the big screen TVs.
The survey found while people spend an average of two hours a week at the gym, 29 per cent never work up a sweat.
One in 10 of the 2,000 gym goers polled actually admitted they would be embarrassed if they did.
Women were the worst offenders saying that they were concerned that their make-up will smudge or that their hair will frizz if they perspire too much.
This could be because one in ten fitness enthusiasts say they only joined the gym to meet the opposite sex. And 10 per cent signed-up because it’s the trendy thing to do.
Many who are new to working-out are also too embarrassed to ask for help, with 39 per cent revealing they aren't sure about how to use some equipment and didn’t want to look stupid.
Paul Bevington, managing director for Kettler, which commissioned the research, said: 'This research appears that not all gym users are making the most of their time at the gym.

'Some gyms fees can cost eye watering amount a year, and amount to a total waste of money, especially if you are reading whilst on the treadmill or cross-trainer.
'Whilst you need to warm down and chilling around the pool is great, it does seem a little pointless paying for the use of high-tech machines if you are not using them properly.'
But the research revealed it provides a useful reason to get out of the house for 29 per cent of gym goers.
Meanwhile, a crafty 13 per cent claim to go off the gym, but in actual fact go somewhere else entirely.

Interesting article. I love my gym but I am never there during the peak times. In the middle of the day, it seems that most people there are there for working out and nothing but. I have had a few instances where I am there a little after 5pm where you can see a total difference on who is attending and you can only guess for what. Oh and lets not even mention Zumba classes. Its Zumba not the strip club people0
