Hi everyone. This is my first post here but hopefully not my last. I can definately use the community support during my journey. Last year I started to look at my life with a serious eye and decided to count calories. I stuck to my diet for for about 3 months and lost 24 pounds. I was excercising here and there a few minutes each day and running 20 minutes on the treadmill twice a week. After 3 months I stopped my calorie counting because of the lack of support in my family. However, I continued some of the healthy habits and have not gained any of the 24 pounds back. This year in March I pound this app on my iphone and decided to start my counting again. I logged in at 190 pounds. I recently came back from Hawaii so I gained some weight back but I know I can easily go back down to 190 soon. Today I weighed in at 195. Even though I havent done very well since my first log in in March, I am starting fresh this week. I am back to my mental level from last year and am looking up and logging in every single calorie. I hope to be at 175 by August, when I go to Vegas. I never swim in the beautiful pools there with my kids because I'm too embarassed. This time around is a little harder for me though because my husband and I are having a rough time with our marriage and are considering divorce so I find myself constantly depressed and thinking about food. The other problem is that in the last 6 months, I have become addicted to sunflower seeds. I eat them every time I am driving anywhere and in the evenings. I don't know how badly this is going to affect my weight loss. I drink coke zero and perrier but I hardly drink any water. Does perrier take the place of water? I read a few posts from other members and it seems like a lot of you like to snack on apples and peanut butter. PB has a lot of calories? Is it a good snack for a diet or is it that you guys just have to have it? I'm curious because I love PB but have been staying away from it for a long time. I am also going to start the couch to 5k run program this weekend after I buy some running shoes. I ran the LA Marathon in 1999 in 4 hours. I used to be fit but after my first child I became ill and put on a lot of weight at once, that was in 2001. Since then I have had 2 more kids. I'm very happy that I took this first step, it actually feels good to write all this down. Any comments/criticisms/advice are welcome. Good luck to you guys.

Hi Everyone I am 34 years old and really out of shape and health is out of control, my father passed away 7 years ago and I just let everything go.. Did know how to deal with all the stress of losing him at such an early age. my BMI is 55 and I know if I don't do something I won't be around to see my children and grandchildren. I have 2 kids one boy and one girl. I also have 1 granddaughter who is my whole world.. My wonderful husband who has been beside for 16 years. lord know I am looking forward to those golden years 25t and 50th you know. My weight has been there my whole life since i was 16, I just want to be healthy. No diabetes no blood pressure problems. I could use as much support as I can get. this journey will be long and hard. but I am ready I have already started to change my eating habits to healthy ones. I will be have gastric bypass soon. But this is a life style change not a diet. I have lost 6 pound in one month. I am proud of that. That a step in the right directions. If you all have any advice for me please feel free to share. Thanks in advance for being her with me and for me through this journey in my life.:)0

Hi and welcome to the site! I have been here for about a week and have loved it so far. Everyone is very supportive and its a nice community and support system to help keep you focused. I think that sunflower seeds are an excellent thing to snack on! They are packed with tons of minerals and protein as well as healthy fats. Besides that Ive heard that they have cancer fighting agents and help to lower your cholesterol. They also help people to quit smoking Ive heard. So they are a great snack. I personally dont snack on peanut butter because it does have such a high fat content, but some people are able to get away with that. For me, it just doesnt work with my body. Apples are an excellent snack though. They are packed with fiber, vitamins, pectin and also are very hydrating! They are my favorite snack! Well good luck with your journey, and I hope you find this site to be helpful0
