Goals?

What kind of goals do you set for yourself on a short term basis? Do you have daily goals, weekly, monthly, all of these? I have an ultimate goal- weight loss of course, but what would be some good short term goals to keep me motivated? What do you do? Thanks, Karen

I try to make my goals small ones instead of thinking "holy crap, I have 50lbs to lose!".
Currently I have mini goals for every ten pounds. It breaks up the weight loss.
Some of my other short term goals are to increase my exercise ability. For example, one is to run 5 minutes straight. Others are trying to go a little harder each time (I use my HRM as a guide). I have non exercise goals as well... I have a few pairs of jeans in my closet that currently don't fit. I have one pair out that is my first goal to fit into along with a shirt I used to be able to wear. It is my first goal outfit. My main goal is to fit into the jeans I have in a tote in my closet so my mini goals until than are to fit into the ones that are steps down from the size I currently wear.0 -
I'm done with an ultimate goal. I know we have to have to to set a calorie count, but I am just going to stick with it and see where it takes me. Somewhere along the way i assume I will find what feels like a comfortable weight and then I will start looking at other acheivements I might want to work on, like endurance or strength.0

My smaller goals are more lifestyle focused. In the beginning, it was quite an accomplishment to get in 4-6 servings of veg in an entire week. So early on, that was a mini goal for me...more veg every day, as well as limiting my saturated fats, etc...then just making better overall nutritional decisions was a mini goal....then meeting certain macro goals, etc.
I also have fitness goals that are not weight loss related. When I first started out, I didn't exercise at all and was incredibly out of shape...no aerobic base at all. My first fitness goal was to be able to walk 2 miles, 3 days per week without feeling like I was going to die. Then it was to walk 12 miles per week without feeling like I was going to die. Then it was 6 miles per week walking and 6 miles per week jogging. Now, it's to improve my mile time with my running, as well as making strength gains in the weight room.
In general, I find "process" goals to be very rewarding and focusing on them results in my other longer term goals falling into place.0
