Does anyone have a good recommendation for a decent bathroom scale? We had a WW digital one (that had a lot of features that we never utilized) but that would never give a consistent number when we got on and off the scale 3 different times in a 10 minute span. We then went to a cheaper, generic digital scale and it varied about 7 lbs from the other scale. I just want one that we can feel good about being accurate. Thoughts?

I'll be interested to see what people recommend. I have the same issue; I don't recall the brand of mine, but I paid $30+ for it, and the same thing happens: I can weigh myself 3-4 times in the span of 5-10 minutes and get a different reading every time. So frustrating.0

That's a good question because I have the same problem. I have a digital scale also and it will change during the same weigh in sometimes a pound or so I always go with the highest weigh in and record that.0

I have a scale called the HealthOMeter. It's a digital scale that I got using my points from my credit card and I've had it for about 3-4 yrs and it's been accurate since I've gotten it. Check it out on www.healthometer.com0

While not a bathroom scale, I have found that the Wii Fit board is both accurate and precise, and it tracks everything on a graph for you. I don't think it would be worth the cost if that's all you used it for though...0

I have a digital one, I like it but once you turn it on from sitting you get on it the get on it again for the correct weight. calibration or something. so you start high then go low. kind of a couple pound tease.0

My dietician says the biggest thing is that you always use the same one, all the time0

I too have a WW scale and have the same issue it can vary from 1-2 lbs…. I usually get on and off 3 -5 times and take the number that pops up the most. I have never owned a set of scales that weigh the same time every time… I too am interested in seeing what the verdict is on this one !0

I paid 10 dollars at Target for a regular scale and it's all you will ever need. Weight is irrelevant though..focus more on your body composition and how you feel about how you look.
Make sure that you calibrate it frequently if it's a 'regular' scale. This means step on and off and make sure it goes back to exactly zero. Different floors types will give you different readings too.0 -
I think it just depends on the scale. I purchased a Healthometer digital scale from Walmart last year. I've replaced the batteries in it once (and I weight myself every day) and it is extremely consistent. It doesn't have any bells/whistles - it's just weight. I've never had an issue with it.

Over the past 3 monthsI have tried 4 (yes, 4) different scales and my most recent purchase appears to be the best so far. I can step on and off it 6 times and get the same result each time. The other three? Not so much.

ETA: Gosh, I sound anal. The reason I had so many scales was from a family donated one, a thrift shop find, and finally a purchase after the first two weren't working out so hot. I returned the purchased scale once I got the much better one from amazon.0 -

I do leave it out and weekly I sweep underneath it as well as sweeping the bottom of it to make sure nothing is on the foot pads. Before every weight I press it with my toe and then wait for it to calibrate and tell me to step on it.
It has been very consistent, although it did weigh about a pound higher than the scale I had before. (For a bit I had them side by side and used both daily.) But, the actual number really doesn't mean much to me, it's the trend.0 -
I purchased a Health o Meter from Walmart for like $20 I think it was? It is digital and it can save and keep track of 2 people's weight. It's the first and only scale we have ever owned so I can't really recommend anything different. I like it though and like the feature it has. Sadly my husband can't use it because he exceeds the weight limit and he gets an "E" when he stands on it.0

It was a little cheaper when I bought it 5 years ago. I only use it for weight, not body fat/water. I think those % composition readings are pretty inaccurate, as any scale would be.
I've never had it give me different readings when I check multiple times; then again, I don't do that very often, because I trust the thing. Circular logic?
As a bonus, it looks pretty cool. The batteries last a while, too.0 -
I have a Taylor digital glass scale. I haven't really had any problems... But today, I got on and it was 2 pounds up... And I was like "There's no way.." So I got on again and it was what it should have been... Then I got on and off about 4 times and it stayed at that lower number. ( I know I didn't gain 2 pounds). Has anyone else had a scale do this?0

I use the wii fit board, I have compared it to the scale at the dr office and it has so far been the most accurate. However I prefer just using a tape measure because it shows better results than a scale.0

I have the Aria, and it's awesome that it's Wifi and connects to MFP and TW, but it's not very consistent. I can get on and off 3 straight times and 3 very different readings. Comparatively, my old Tanita was super consistent - gave the exact same readings, within one decimal place, with repeated measurements.0

just a scale rant. I have 3 scales in my life: 2 at work and 1 at the gym.
1st scale says 144
2nd scale says 149
3rd scale says 153
so i go with the middle one but how ridiculous is that??!0 -

You can expect that sort of variation throughout the day, especially if you're wearing different clothes. A pair of jeans by itself weighs about 2 lbs. Your actual body mass can go up and down several pounds in a given day just from food and hydration.0 -
Personally I like mine it's nothing fancy, besides being able to measure up to 400lbs, but it's got a dial in the center to manually calibrate and big clear numbers like an old food scale in the grocery stores. I had to pay a little extra for mine though since I needed it to weigh my big size.

Throw it in the garbage and take measurements and calipers. All you need. Scales lie but your waistline, hips, thighs, calfs, arms, and neck do not. That's my take.

We have the ww one, I find it to be consistent, but it can't be on carpet, it has to be on a hard surface. Our old one was the dial kind, the more weight on it the more it was off.0

I just go to Publix and get on the big scale in the store. It's pretty accurate.0

I can't recommend one. Our bathroom scales are stuffed. It gave me a reading that was about 6kg below where I was meant to be and for four weeks it didn't budge. I now only use the old cantilever counter-weight scales at my gym but I've also found that recording neck, waist and hip measurements to be a better indicator of fat weight loss.0 -

LOL I don't think I'm stable enough (mentally) to handle that big of a variation on scales.0 -
Standard weight scale/doctor scale says I weigh 264/263
My home scale says I weigh 267/268 ~_~
Tend to go with standard scale ( one where you move weights back in forth til its in middle) since I started off with that one on the first place.0
