Ok so I have lost 54 lbs and toned most of my body thru various DVD workouts and running. But for some reason I can't seem to get my behind in shape. What are some toning exercises for the back side. Any ideas welcome

Definitely squats, deadlifts, lunges... I'll add glute bridges (cuz they're awesome) and back and side kicks martial-arts style... something like what is done in the Les Mills Combat DVDs.
But to build any muscle on your bum you need to be eating food... no 1000 calorie deficits are going to cut it.
I say this as an endurance runner who was finally convinced to go for lifting heavy weights in October. All those "lift heavy" snobs were right  ... lifting is doing stuff for my body that running and workout DVDs just can't touch.0 -

I agree with the above post. I am on my feet all day, and have always had okay legs. My butt not so much. I find walking and running (not a great runner) up and down hills helps. But doing the strength work as well is really making my muscles lift. I still don't look great naked, but I look better in pants. I only keep a small deficit as I do have fat to lose, but as above said you need to eat to build muscles .0 -
I do alot of squats and walking on the treadmill on an incline, and doing most cardio machines with a higher resistance. Diet is most important however. I feel like my bum feels better since I started watching what I eat. Give it a week or 2 and let us know what you start to feel.0

how about the brazil butt lift does it really work. I do jullian mIcheals killer buns and thighs once a week but seems like I need more0

See you can either eat at a caloric deficit and keep losing body fat until your existing butt muscles are more visible i.e. there's less fat covering them... OR, you can work on building new muscle to shape your butt differently. In order to do that, you can't really be dieting too much and you need to lift weights. You can't build new muscle doing Jillian Michaels DVDs.0
