I need to whine & cry...

Since I was 5 I've had horrible GI issues. I've been misdiagnosed so many times that I've pretty much given up trying to find an answer. Whenever I eat I either throw up or have chronic diarreah. I have to go on disability at work for weeks at a time because of the pain
I've had every test known to man - everything always comes back normal. And trust me when I say EVERY test. I've been tested for diseases, viruses, bacterias, allergies....etc...
The only time I feel "good" is when I'm on a liquid diet. So...after a lengthy discussion with my doctor, we've decided that I'm going on a medically supervised liquid diet for a few weeks. This is really to give my body a break. And to give me a break. I don't think I can handle another day of being sick.
So I start this tomorrow. As sick as food makes me, I'm really gonna miss it. And it'll be tough especially since I'm the one who cooks and does the grocery shopping in my family.

Awwww hon!! I'm sorry to hear that. I am glad that the diet is doctor supervised though, and it is something he recommended. Hopefully it will help you. I've been on a liquid diet before ..and that's not fun either. Best of luck, and we're always here for you!0

There are a lot of things that could be going on and I wish you the very best.
After 10 years of thinking that I was allergic to food I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Most tests, even biopsys can give you a false negative diagnosis.
Not saying this is you, but don't let it take your sanity.
Keep brave and keep searching

Try natural medicine maybe a nutritionist. I hope you get better soon...0

Awwww, sweetie I feel your pain. I have some GI issues as well, and I know it can make your life a living hell, as well as going to get every test under the moon done with 'normal' results can be very frustrating. It sounds like this liquid diet should help, at least for a little while. Since you said you cook and shop for your family I hope it wont be too difficult but I know you can do it! Hopefully you can get a break from this, if you need any support you can always msg me! I would be whining and crying too, but dont worry! Hang in there bud!:flowerforyou:0

Thanks
I have tried natural remedies - I've been to naturopaths, acupunturists, even a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. No relief.
I've been tested for Celiac on several occasions too - I thought for sure that's what it was. Nope
The one thing that's very frustrating is...I've had this problem for over 30 years - I can't digest food properly and sometimes I don't digest it at all so...why in blue blazes am I obese??? That puzzles me and frustrates me more than anything.
Edited to add: I forgot to mention this...I'm sure some people can relate - I've had several GI Specialists actually tell me that they didn't believe anything was wrong with me because of my weight. One doctor even refused to listen to me once he saw me - said all of his patients were underweight and malnourished and since I wasn't like that he wasn't going to waste his time with me. Gotta love these types!0 -
Kinda sounds like Chrone's Disease. :frown: I'm really sorry you're having to go through this. I had to do smoothies when this last wisdom tooth started erupting (yes, I have all 4). I found I could get a pretty balanced diet from them with protein from milk and peanut butter and adding spinach, since you can't taste the spinach after it's blended, for vegetation. I just got really sick of the sweet. I had the idea to do one with cottage cheese, pasta, and spaghetti or pizza sauce, but never got around to trying it. Might not taste too bad. Good luck to you. :flowerforyou:0

are you getting the proper amount of vitamins and minerals in your diet? you might try looking up a dr. ray strand on the web. he has a website that has some wonderful recommendations about nutrition for many different ailments, etc. not sure if it will help...just a thought. here's praying you are able to find a solution0

It's interesting that you should mention vitamins and minerals. This last round of tests we did included testing levels of vitamins. I thought I may be deficient in vitamin D or one of the vitamin Bs. I'll check out Dr. Strand's site.0

I have/had ulcerative colitis, so I know what your going through, until they did a sigmoidoscopy, they didnt know I had it after several blood tests, and my white blood count always being high!!! I say have/had because I had my large intestine removed and now have an ileostomy, even though I still have other symtoms from the disease (fatigue, super dry flakey skin, etc) I feel 100% better. But I used to be sick all the time and I hated it, hopefully the docs figure it out eventually, so you can get some comfort0

Simona, I known you say that you have been checked for everything! Is Chrones disease one? I have a friend who lived into his early 20's with the exact same problem with food! When he started missing too much work, while in the Air Force, they sent him through nutritionists and then onto specialist concerning food and his body! He was finally diagnosed with Chrones disease in his mid 20's and while he still has flare ups, here and there, they have it under control. Just thought I would ask!0

I have an interesting eating disorder that I won't get into here, and I think that contributes both to my overweight issues, as well as deficiency issues. BUT, some are just...there.
I have B12 deficiency (I thought I was losing my mind...getting alzheimer's at age 30...nope, absolutely NO B12 in my system...monthly shots), Folic acid deficiency (which I take a pill a day for, we'll see if it's come back up after a month), and Vitamin D deficiency. I get re-tested Tuesday for these, as well as cholesterol check. The Folic Acid and the D were discovered by my NEW doctor, despite having these blood tests over the past 10 years with other docs. It's amazing what changes it can bring to your life.
For example, my B12 isn't due to a lack of eating foods in B12, but not being able to absorb it at all, not sublingually, or in pill form.
Anyway, get a FULL panel....ya just never know!0 -
I've been biopsied 3x to check for Crohn's and Colitis - this was both intestinal biopsies and stomach biopsies - each test came back negative. That's what's so frustrating and tiring. I even went so far as to get an HIV test done just to rule that out - one of the symptoms of HIV is chronic diarreah.
The liquid diet will give me a well deserved rest. I sometimes think I should just resign myself to the idea that food is my enemy and for some reason my body is viciously turning on it. I've read in medical journals cases where people just couldn't digest food and have had to go on either permanent liquid diets or on permanent IVs. I'm hoping that won't be the case for me but if it is, at least I know I'm not alone.0 -
i know this is a long shot and maybe your naturopath's have thought of this, but what about food allergies? not a lot of creedance is given to this but i believe in it. you could have a RAST test. i'm a ped's nurse and working with children with eating issues. we were working with this child who had vomited regularly for 4 years and was on a mostly liquid diet. she had a blood test and was allergice to things like soy, gluten, a couple fruits and a few other things. totally changed her life. and her family. just a thought.0

I had a friend go through something similar in middle school for about a year. She did all sorts of tests to no avail, and eventually they found that she had a tapeworm?!0
