Any fishermen/fisherwomen here?

Okay, let's see who here loves to fish!

For me it's bass, crappie, bluegill/bream and catfish, mostly in east Texas. I have a 17ft Carolina Skiff with a 50hp Yamaha and I love to take the kids out for a day on the water.

So, what do you fish for, what kind of gear/boat, and what's your motivation?

Todd

PS: Feel free to add me as a friend for support.

hmmm...I have ALWAYS fished...mostly in rivers and streams growing up (in Alaska)...wherever my little feet could take me. Now I fish all summer long but only in the local lakes. We DID have a nice 70something tri-hull boat but its since gone on to another home. But I fish for whatever will bite my line (which is usually perch)...doesnt really matter to me since I dont like to eat ANY fish...so glad my family does! I have yet to fish the sound...I hear its a ton of fun when the salmon are running.

I do a lot of bass fishing or carp fishing. Just a small 12 John boat w/ trolling motor. NJ freshwater sucks .. largest large mouth bass for me was a little over 5 lbs and for Carp Around 20 lbs. Winter needs to end !
  • Love to bass fish. Fished the BASS Federation, BFL and fished on the pro side of the Everstart back in early 2000. Run a 20 foot Triton with a Merc on it and Lowrance electronics. One of my close friends is a pro who fishes FLW and is moving to BASS opens this year. He has a 2012, 21foot BassCat with a 250 Evinrude Etec for sale now. Must be nice to get a new boat every year!

My fav lake would have to be Eufaula. That place is amazing!

Salmon!!! At least for me. I grew up fishing with my grandpa and I enjoy it. I'd say my motivation these days is I'd rather catch my own fish instead of paying what the super market charges.

Most recently it's been striped bass/ bluefish/croaker in/ near the Chesapeake Bay (near a river tributary outlet so it depends specifically where I'm at as to what body of water I'm fishing )
When I'm back in the Midwest, it's bluegill, perch, catfish, trout. This summer I caught my first pike in upper Michigan.

It's my favorite time of the year right now. Ice fishing for walleye and yellow perch, don't mind catching an occaisional snake(northern pike)

I go fishing with my brother in Chicago and Wisconsin. Ice FIshing too! Sometimes we charter a boat in Wisconsin and fish. He's more into fishing than I am. My brother can fish all day and never get bored.

I LOVE to fish- steelhead, walleye, pike... I love fly fishing, ice fishing, trolling (not the internet kind ), fishing off a pier, pretty much any way and any where you can fish. I grew up on a lake, and my grandpa would take me out fishing on Lake Michigan almost every weekend in the summer. Sadly though, I can't stand eating any of it...

This last January I went fishing 2 miles off shore of Sarasota, FL with my dad and daughter. One of the best days of my life. This 25 lb. triple tail was the prize catch. We ate some that night, froze the rest and brought it home with me to Indiana. I just grilled the rest that I had on Sunday night for dinner.

Here's our total haul. Not bad for a 4 hour trip.

I come from Northern MN where the walleye is king. I have Lake of the woods, Rainy lake and the Rainy river in my back yard. Best 3 spots in my book to fish walleye. I also fish for sturgeon in the spring. 2 years ago I got hooked on Muskies and its putting a dent in my wallet not a cheap fish to go after. Fishing is my passion weight loss is my goal.
