Water = Pee a billion x's a day

Before starting this, I generally drank anywhere between 2-6 glasses of water a day. But after increasing it to 8-10 a day, my urine output has become beyond ridiculous! I am serious when I say I am peeing every hour or two.

Is this normal?

Does it eventually level out and you don't have to go as much later?

TIA

I imagine your bladder stretches. I drink at least 5 pint mugs of tea in any given day and I dont pee that often.

Your first couple of weeks will probably be like that. Your body is flushing excess fluid away. That's part of why people often see a nice weight loss in the first couple of weeks of a program.

Have you had a diabetes check? This is one of the symptoms and it's how I found out I was borderline diabetic.

I would love to go every 1-2 hours. I sometimes drink enough that I go every 15 min. I average every hour and a half...

I haven't recently, no. Last time I had anything like that done was when I was pregnant and I was borderline gestational diabetic, but everything was fine once I cut back on the high sugar and crap I was craving/eating while pregnant. lol

I stopped drinking so much water because I spent half the day in the bathroom. Ridiculous. Nobody was built to drink that much. If you do, good for you. Now I drink as much to make my urine clear, but that's it. I wanted my life back. Now I am losing weight.

I have always peed like at least 10 times a day, but I have also been a big big water drinker. My doctor says my blood sugar is normal so we concluded my bladder is just small. He thinks it is a good thing to "rinse" quickly. :)

    what Caddie says.

research shows that you need hydration, not necessarily water. If you are drinking the water on top of other drinks and moist foods (like fruit) you are having too much. You can drink water before meals to feel fuller but 8 glasses is OTT

I drink close to a gallon of water every day. In the beginning I definitely had to pee all the time, but it has since tapered off to 5-6 times/day and is far less annoying.
  • when i drink water in the morning then have a cup of coffee then i start peeing all day!! but i think after drinking for 2 weeks your body will adjust, but the bad thing is when u stop drinking all that water, you start getting really thirsty, your body is wondering why it's not getting all that water. In other words you train your body to get that much water and when u stop uh oh...

I drink at least a gallon of h2o a day plus coffee plus iced tea (I consume a lot of fluids, always have) and yes I pee a lot. It can be a challange at work but I get by ok. Keep drinking that water peeps!

I pee every 2 hours or so. Nothing wrong with it. It's just a little inconvenient when I have to run a cafe by myself and have to ask a receptionist in the next room (I work in a museum) to make sure no one steals anything.

As a good number of others have said: Unless you have another health issue involved, most likely your body will adjust.

When I first started upping my water and if I restart after slacking for a while I end up peeing all.the.time.

Then after a while I'm fine.

I think it is like drinking beer. Once you break the seal you have to go all the time.

I drink over 100 oz daily. At 1st it seemed like all I did was pee. It's gets better. Peeing is good. FLushes out toxins.

HA that's hilarious! I sooo relate - but I can only blame my 3rd child for it - my pregnancy with him screwed up my bladder... plus I drink a fair bit of coffee :)

That is because you are a man, and never had any children.

To the OP: No, you are not the only one. I am familiar with every and all ladies room locations in any and all stores, markets, business, etc. in the whole USA

It took my tiny bladder several weeks to adjust to increased water intake. I'm ok with frequent peeing. I'm stuck in front of a computer screen all day and peeing gives me a chance to get up and move around so I dont stroke out.

I was like that the first couple weeks but now after 2 months, it's not so bad. I drink 11-16 8oz glasses a day.

Thanks for the input everyone. :)

My husband is one that could drink gallons a day and only pee maybe 3-5 times a day if that. Iron bladder that man has. lol

I've always had a "small bladder" so to speak. Just never had to go this much before. It's just annoying, but if it helps me flush bad stuff out (my urine is water clear at this point) and helps me lose weight, then I will tolerate it. :P

Guess it is good I am a SAHM right now. Constant access to a bathroom.

Having had gestational diabetes puts you at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. It would not hurt to get checked again to be sure that your current weight has not pushed you back over the edge from prediabetes to diabetes.
