Running on the Treadmill

I have to admit when I use the treadmill I have never ever run on it because I imagine one of those moments of slipping, falling on my face and being the laughing stock of the gym. I even have a treadmill at home and don't run on it.
Well tonight was different. I DID IT! I did a slow build up and have been feeling more confident now that I have been exercising more and more and I JOGGED on my treadmill. Granted it was at home and I only did it for about 10-15 min, but I am so proud of myself!
Just had to share!

Great job! I had the same fear, plus being large and thinking people would stair at me kept me slow for a awhile. Finally I bought a hoodie and pulled the hood up and cranked up my music. Now I don't care if I sound like a Clydesdale lol0

Good job, i too was hesitant to jog on the treadmill (at the gym) all that jiggling and it can be hard to stay in the right spot, i find myself either hitting the front bar with my gut or my feet going back too far, 10-15mins you've done an awesome job, the last few times at the gym i plucked up the courage to jog for a minute at a time several repetitions at about 7mph on a level 5 incline. Still too high impact for me but i'm perservering.
Like you i built up to it. during 40mins of 6mph walking every so often i'd break into a 1minute 7mph jog which kills my shins but hey we gotta do what we gotta do and no question jogging burns off more calories then walking any speed.
The most i've done so far is 4 reps of just over a minute in the first week of starting training..

I know the feeling, being around 240lbs and i thought everyone would stare but noone cares, they are too busy doing there own thing so it's all in our heads, then the only thing to worry about is breaking the treadmill or falling off and looking like a *kitten* that way haha. The price we pay to get healthier0

haha I remember one time I was running on my treadmill at home going about 7.0 mph and our power went out and I ran into the front of my treadmill.....that was fun.0 -

It took me ages to work up to running on the treadmill. I'm uncoordinated at the best of times, I could see myself giving myself a concussion. But it's a great feeling when you finally break into that jog, isn't it?
Mind you I still won't run on a treadmill in the gym... only at home. Still have fears of ambulances and humiliation from knocking out my front teeth or breaking a leg in public...0 -
certainly is, specially if you haven't ever jogged b4 or not in many decades.
but the beauty of getting injured at the gym is, they are obliged to coming to your aid Tho depending on what you signed they take no responsibility for fees incurred as a result of you injuring yourself unless it's there negligence or a faulty equipment, so in that respect you may aswell be at home.0
