Can anyone recommend good running shoes - furthest I am going to be running is 5km. I have flat feet and need as much support as possible.

Advice would be appreciated

Everyone is different. Go to a reputable running store and have them watch you run to recommend a style of shoe for you. Then try them on until you find the most comfortable one for you. I overpronate so I use a motion control shoe.

Better stores will let you take them for a test drive outside before you buy. Some will let you return them if they don't end up being a good fit

I would say go get your feet checked out by a running store, like Jack Rabbit. They analyze your running style and make you run on a treadmill and everything.

But if you can't, I would recommend Nike Free Runs+ 3. That's what I have and I love 'em. Except that they're minimalist running shoes.. They're like being barefoot...but not.

Are you an over pronator? I am and I need cushion. I vote for Asics Kayanos I8s. I can run in them right out of the box...and they provide decent arch support. The Kayano 19s haven't been out long so you can still get the 18s and on a good sale. You might also try the Brooks Trance or Brooks Adrenalin if you over pronate. My son who has very flat feet and is an over pronator goes between the Kayanos and the Adrenalins. The Brooks Addiction and Beast provide some serious support I hear but we haven't tried those. Like the others recommended, get into a running store and have them set you up on a treadmill to record your foot biomechanics...

Go get your feet analyzed by a trained foot specialist or anyone knowledgeable that can recommend something for you :)
