I recently learned to swim but have no idea how many calories I'm burning compared to MFP's estimates and would like a new HRM anyway. Any recommendations??

i used several swim watches in the past.. i now use the garmin 910xt. its expensive but it does everything that any other watch does and 10 fold. but they do cheaper swim specific watches. counting your laps + lengths, calories via your age weight height in- put in easy format that you can understand. tells you your efficiency levels (swolf)l, calories etc. or you have the pool mate which has 2 types, one that connects to computer as does garmin or the cheaper non connect. if your into other sports or walking etc look at the garmin first. the garmin will log your swims in open water also via gps..0

Hey! I've used my Polar FT7 in the pool and it worked great after I figured out that the strap has to be SUPER TIGHT to pick it up. Once I got it snugged up properly it was bombproof. Highly recommend this one in general, too, very easy to use and haven't had any kind of problems with it. It was $120 but I've heard of people getting it as low as $60 - so shop around! Technically it is "water-resistant" but it says in the manual that as long as you don't press buttons underwater (why would you anyways!?) then it's fine to use for swimming.0

I did get a great deal on mine, I got it a few weeks back when someone shared a link for Sears online sale for Polars. I called the store and they honored the online price, had one left and I got it. $44.00 + tax. Never ever ever have I seen one for a better price, I was quite fortunate the member shared the link.
I was going to buy one from BodyTronics.com if not Sears as I think they have the lowest prices on Polars that I've seen.
I am very very content with my FT4 it gives me all the info I need!
Happy Shopping! :flowerforyou:0 -
