METs -- Calculating calories burned

I've seen so many people asking how to calculate calories burned so here's how to do it.
Below is a link showing examples of some exercises and the METs they're worth.

    It's pretty accurate for me knowing what I get from my HRM for different activities. I know the next question will be that it doesn't list Zumba or Jillian Michaels DVD's.

    I use a HRM and it has always been really close to what MFP has but using this calculation it was off by a good amount. I will stick with what my HRM says. Everyone's differant age gender and what not...

    I know what you mean.
    But if people can find something in that list that is of similar energy/intensity to the activity they're doing then they'll have at least an approximate idea.

    Many people don't have HRMs, which is why I posted. I don't have one currently, but will be getting one.
