lunch break

Today I opened up my lunch bag and started munching on some blackberries only to find out that they've gone bad, and that I totally forgot to pack the quinoa I made last night to go with my homemade curry :/

Needless to say, I'm hungry! And need to find something no more than 200 - 250 calories near by that I can run out to on my lunch break - any suggestions?

There's a trader joe's (and I really hate this particular store's produce selection so I'd prefer not to get produce there - its been bad numerous times), a frozen yogurt place, 711, coffee bean, in n out, del taco and mcdonalds all close enough for me to get back to the office in time.

  • I'd go for Trader Joe's because, since it's a grocery, you'll have more options and more control over what you buy. It's hard to get something substantial for so few calories at a fast-food or coffee place. Sorry, we only just got Trader Joe's here and I don't know them very well--do they sell deli salads or something?

Trader Joe's has a number of salads that will fall into that calorie range if you skip the dressing. (I know you mentioned the produce there, but I've found the salads consistently better than TJ's produce).

Just off the top of my head there's:
    Chipotle Chicken Caesar - 150 w/o dressing, 180 with
Surimi and Shrimp Shrimp Louie salad - 160 w/o dressing
Harvest Salad with Chicken - 220 w/o dressing
Chinese Style Chicken Salad - 240 w/o dressing (reduced fat version has about 230 cal)

There are others, but those are the ones I remember.
