I do not go to the gym, hopefully I can join one in 2-3 months but in the mean time, I need something new to do, I mainly run 1-2 times a week, and do p90x legs and back, shoulders and arms, ab ripper x, and chest and back. I do throw in kenpo x, and Jillian Michaels Shred it with weights (the kettle bell one) sometimes, but thats about it. Im looking for new workouts, which ones are worth it? I thought about getting Insanity but im looking mainly for strength workouts instead of cardio, I already run and im only 4 lbs form my goal weight so I dont need much more cardio, I want to build my muscles up more. I looked on beach body, but the only workouts similar to p90x is body beast and im not sure i like that one plus its expensive to get the equipment, so any help would be appriciated.
and please dont tell me to look on youtube
TIA

I think les mills pump in kinda like a p90x program but don't quote me on it. There are lots of great strength programs laid out online to follow and books like the new rules series too if you are good with doing it without DVDs0

Lol. I like you are your own gym for body weight exercises. Did the first stage of new rules for women and was loving it until morning sickness kicked my butt. Also there's an interesting program on fittness black and white website I'm interested in trying that looks pretty decent.0

I agree with Les Mills Pump. It comes with the barbell and weights and does amazing things for your body! The program is 3 days a week so you could run on the other days! Also Chalene Extreme is great for building muscle!! I plan on doing Body Beast eventually once I get all the equipment together!! I have seen fabulous results from women doing it! (And no, you won't get bulky! That's a misconception) I'd love to talk to you about these programs!! Just message me!!0

I did a Spartan race last year as as part of signing up, I got a daily workout from them. Here is the link to sign up for them, http://www.spartanrace.com/wod/. I found that even though my buddy was doing P90X, these workouts were hard for him. They sucked for me too, but I was out of shape. They are pretty fun and most parks where I live had all I needed to do them.0

There is a lot of strength in Insanity but it's your own body weight. I HIGHLY recommend Jari Love! She is on amazon. Her dvds are mostly weight training. You just use small weights. I use a variety from 3-10 lbs. They are very good! The videos are 60+ min but are split into 2 30 min workouts. So you can choose to do 30 min or the full hour.0

I just started cross country skiing and pole fitness. Both are awesome total body workouts. If you can believe it or not, the pole fitness actually seems more difficult to me than cross country skiing! Lots of work on building strength, too.
Sorry I didn't read first that you are not going to the gym. I don't take either of these at the gym, but they do cost some $. I get soooo bored working out at home.0 -
If you're looking for strength training... I was too and had a friend send me this website...
bodybuilding.com/exercises
It brings up diagrams of the body with all the major musle groups listed. You just click on the different muscle groups and it will bring up tons of exercises for each, and you can use the tools on the side of the page to check what kind of equipment you have available to you (kettlebells, dumbbells, or just body). I put together 2 days with different muscle groups and picked 3 exercises for each muscle group. I'll do 2 excercises for each group in 3 sets of 10 each, and rotate the 3 different excercises. I'll do 2 days of workouts and then rest for 2 days (or just do cardio those days).
Hope that helps!0 -
I have a few friends who LOVE the Nike Training Club app, which puts together workouts based on time and your goal (strength, cardio, toning, or specific body area), and keeps track of your progress. It sounds like you have all the equipment you need to start. I haven't tried it yet, just got as far as downloading the app, haha, so I don't know exactly how it works. Just passing it along!0
