I go over on my protein everyday a lot. So I'm wondering how bad is it that I go over on my protein or is it bad or is it just tracking?

What is a lot? MFP's default settings are a little easy on the protein. You would have to eat quite a significant quotient of your diet in protein before it became detrimental to your progress. Protein is good!0

I usually go over my protein too and was wondering the same. but im thinking its ok since im low thyroid/pcos girl so im trying to cut down my carbs. It usually gives me 60 grams and today I ate 120grams.0

Some people believe that you should have 1 g of protein for every pound you weigh if you are exercising a decent amount. I've found MFP's requirements are no where NEAR that amount, so if you're somewhere in the middle of that, you should be good!0

^This!
I have my macros set to reflect 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass. For me, that's about 115g of protein per day.0 -
By about 50gms lately and will most likely stay the same. I do exercise so I'm active I didn't know if that would raise it at all? You pics are amazing by the way you look awesome.0

I met with my nutritionist this week, and she was emphasizing the importance of eating more protein to increase metabolism. She wants me to consume at least 80 to 85g of protein per day. I have been trying to put more protein into my food plan.0

Change the Ratio of Carbs/fats/protein. 40/20/40 is a good start. Track macro nutrients. not calories. If you follow the macro nutrients the calories will automatically fall in place. MFP's recommended sucks.0

I've been eating 50-70g of protein everyday. Protein is great for weight loss. Your body burns a lot of calories digesting protein. Also you need protein if you are exercising0

Thank you all so much I'm fairly new to all this still a work in progress. I guess always a work in progress lol.0

Your diary is closed so it makes it a bit difficult to answer. But if you are between 50 to 300 per day you should be okay unless you have a medical problem that tells you that you should have less protein. It is probably a good idea to stay under 1200 calories per day in protein alone.0

YES! And the more we learn the more we realize we don't know. Once you hit that big goal, you'll find out that you've found five smaller ones. It's a beautiful thing :flowerforyou:0 -
When we lose weight we're really trying to burn fat and maintain muscle mass. To lose weight and not care where it comes from results in looking smaller but not better, and at the extreme end of the scale you look like you're emaciated and on death's door. Part of the key to maintaining as much muscle as possible is getting an adequate amount of protein. Some people take it too far because of the bodybuilding magazines and supplement manufacturer's advertisements but I think a good general consensus is 1g/lb or, if you're quite overweight, .75g/lb. It would be better to go by fat-free mass but accurate body fat measuring is expensive and not really necessary.
The other important part is resistance training!0 -
i was told by my diabetes nutritionist that protein will help stabilize your blood sugar when eaten in combination with other healthy foods in each meal. it also helps with muscle repair with workouts. i have some sort of protein every meal. i have also given this advice to many others who have seen large amounts of weight loss. i think the stats are way too low and i go over every day. i think it also depends where the source of the protein is. lean meats, eggs, etc are ok. if its a bunch of fatty meats, then maybe not. also think of it this way. lots of body builders use protein supplements to help with training and to add calories for high calorie burn days. so i would guess that if they did this on a regular basis and look the way they do, then it can not be horrible for you.0
