Subtract BMR from exercise - within the margin of error?

So yesterday I did some pretty intense elliptical work...my HRM estimated a 530ish calorie burn. Now, where we would debate that we should subtract our BMR from that number to get the actual calorie burn....MFP estimated the same burn...and the BMR allowance is supposed to already be calculated.

So if MFP and my HRM are giving me the same information...wouldn't be safe to assume that subtracting approximate BMR is within the margin of error and unnecessary?

Disclaimer: This is just for the sake of discussion. I personally do not subtract BMR but some insist that you should. I don't know what the right way to do it is...but I would like to hear other people viewpoints. :)

    Hello
I don't subtract anything from a workout i use what the HRM gives you as a burn.. if i wear it to work i subtract some depending on what kind of day it was seeing how i do alot of lifting of boxes.
