Getting Back to Basics.......

After years of experimenting with calorie manipulation, working out in excess thinking that more meant better results, and not achieving the results that I wanted.....I finally enlisted the help of a nutritionist a couple of years ago and I was able to have a figure that I was happy with. He gave me an eating plan where I did NOT count calories....I made sure to keep my fats at 15% of my macros, and my body responded GREAT!!!! I leaned out, then he cut my sugars to 40 grams/day....my body gave a little more, and after that I just wanted to coast.

(it's worth mentioning that I am consistant to a FAULT.....I will do something over and over again, my problem is that I do the same thing, and as I've learned the hard way, the body is master at homeostasis....so this always eventually works against me--I have to change it up).

So in comes my first pregnancy in 2009. I started off at 19% body fat, and throughout the 9 months gained a normal 30 lbs. After I had my baby, lost approximately 25lbs with P90X videos, by the time she was 3 months old. BUT the fat had suddenly shifted....I may have lost 25lbs, but that last 6 lbs was still sitting on my butt and thighs. Since then I have had a hard time leaning out that last 6lbs that's sitting there. I've enlisted the help of a personal trainer to add about 5 lbs of muscle mass, but now I decided to take a step back and assess my situation because I'm still not there.

What I haven't done in a LONG time is go back to track my calories as I once did. I've let bad eating habits creep, and I am certain that I'm eating WAY more calories than I'm supposed to in order to lose the weight. This is why I've come to MFP, I will be 40 at the end of March and I want to go back to where I was. I'm starting at 1700 calories as a starting point because I do not want to sacrifice the muscle I've worked hard for, and I'm not scared to eat!!!! I'm just scared to going back to too low a calorie consumption. I've been at a place where I could eat and have splurges in moderation, and still continue to look good naked....because that's also what it's about for me.

So 40 and fabulous.....here I come!!!!!! Wish me luck!
