Calorie counting

When I go to the gym sometimes I find it hard to keep up, for the most part I can stick with the class, but most I find I have to stop for water and catch my breath. So when I log my excersice I generally only add half my workout, because I dont want to overshoot my "burned" number. The other day I went to the gym for 2 hours instead of my normal 1 for my 2nd day in a row ...instead of every other. My calorie intake allowance bumped up 250 cals and I can't figure how to make it go back down. Any ideas why this happened/ how to fix it?

And while I'm asking questions what is the best way to calculate calories burned??? apps, equiptment, pen and paper???

  • When I would go to the gym, all of the machines would keep count of calories burned so I would use that. Or I would just use the calculations on MFP for that particular exercise.
  • Do yourself a big favor and invest in a heart rate monitor. It is going to give you the most accurate calories burned. I have a polar FT4 and I do not work out without it on.
