fitness watches?

My friend told me about these watches that tell you all kinds of stuff...the main thing I want is an accurate reading of how many calories I burn during a work out.
Anyone know of what brands I should look into? Anyone have any advice or testimonies about their watches?
Thanks for the help,
Andrea

I have a Polar F6, it comes with a chest strap (that's the key for the best accuracy). LOoOoOoOove it! I paid about $120 and use it every day, sometimes up to 3 times a day! Plus the F6 can be worn around other HRM without being affected, and it's waterproof up to 50m. Oh and its pink :bigsmile:0

You are looking for a heart rate monitor ("hrm"). There are a lot of different styles and brands and typically, the more expensive, the more accurate. The most common brand is probably Polar. (Polar F6 seems to be super popular.) But its a good $70 on ebay at the very least.
I have a Precision XT Trainer that I got on ebay for about $20. It comes with a chest strap that monitors my heart rate and transmits the info to the watch. I set my profile on the watch (height, weight, age, activity level) and it tells me exactly how many calories I burn while I work out. It can be finicky sometimes and the watch will not read the signal from the chest strap, but I haven't had that problem often enough for me to worry about it.
There are some hrms that can track your distance and pace while running. Some that are supposedly more accurate than others. If nothing else, make sure you get a hrm that has a chest strap!
But yes, a hrm is a GREAT tool to help in weight loss!0 -
I have a MIO Drive that I got on amazon for about $50, nearly half than what you pay in stores. it has a watch, calorie burn counter per workout, total calorie burn, timer (including interval timer), and my favorite feature is the 3500 calorie countdown, which tracks all the calories you burn until you hit the 1 pound mark, then you reset it. I LOVELOVELOVE it, and keeps me very motivated! Good luck finding a HRM that best suits you!

This is the watch my coworkers/workout partners got. We LOVE it. It tracks calories great based on your heart rate and weight that you put in. We've had them about 6 weeks and couldn't rave about them enough.0 -
