2:39 am - Appropriate time to call your boss to tell him that you won't be in today?

Yes/No?

(And no, you are not drunk!)

I would say only if there is death or dismemberment involved.

I guess that depends what time the work day starts. Probably not, though.

I think drunk calling your boss is a good idea. It will let them know you are committed to the job, even if wasted.

Not unless you are supposed to be there at 4 am.

take it from someone who does on call never ever do that unless you are in the hospital even then not a good idea then So my answer is no wait until 2 hours before start time if you work in the health field if not 1 hour is enough

Work hours are 8:30am to 5pm.....

Not unless there was a horrific emergency that make it impossible to call later.

If you absolutely have to contact your boss now because you won't be able to call at a decent hour (because you're going in for emergency surgery or to jail or something), then I'd send an email. Otherwise, wait.

As a boss, I would appreciate an e-mail unless it's a really, really bad reason.

What's the reason for calling in? Because people are sick all the time at 2:30 AM but still go to work because they feel better by 8am.
  • It depends on what time you have to show up to work and if others are counting on you being there.
