30 Day Shred - Arthritis

I've just bought the 30 Day Shred video but I'm finding the press ups particularly hard as I have arthritis in my wrists - does anyone have any suggestions to alternatives or ways round this? I also have problems with kneeling down ...

    Anyone?
  • I have it in one wrist. All I do is turn it to a position that is comfortable for me. Maybe as your doctor or a physio?

Buy WAGs (wrist assured gloves), they have a website, http://www.wristassuredgloves.com/

The gloves are heavy padded and they came with a wrist strap so when you put pressure on your hand, the pad (a gel) absorbs most of the pressure, and the strap protect your wrist. They are used for yoga and Pilates.

They are not cheap (about $ 60) and I can't use them at the gym when I do strength training, but I find them very helpful for DVD workouts like JM’s or other fitness classes.

I just bought a pair yesterday and I can't wait to get them. I got the 'Ultra' gloves, but I am concerned now because I read that some people think they pinch the webbing between the fingers when in the plank position.

I am concerned about movements like burpees where I need to repeatedly jump down into plank and won't want to take an extra second each time to make sure the gloves are adjusted into a comfortable position. I don't know what JM's is, but I am wondering if you have noticed this problem at all?

Thanks to anyone who can answer.

Try following Anita. She's the one doing the modified versions for beginners, and I find it is much easier on the bones.

Sorry for taking awhile to answer but I was out of town.

I don't do burpees so I can't tell you how the gloves will work for you. My gloves come with a strap that I wrap around my wrists and that it hold the gloves/pads in place; I can make it as tight or as loose as you want or need for my exercises.

I use the gloves in my Yoga and Pilates classes sometimes going from the “downward dog” pose to full plank (repeating several times), and I never had any problem.

JJM= Jillian Michaels. She has a lot of workouts DVDs (circuit training), that you can do at home.

Thanks, it sounds like I should be fine then. Now I'll just wait (impatiently) for my gloves to arrive and figure out how they do for me. I will try to remember to post back here once I try them out to either confirm or refute the 'pinching' claim for anyone else who is interested.
