When I was pregnant 7 years ago I was walking on the treadmill at the gym and some old bat kept giving me dirty looks the entire time. Finally after I was done she came up to me and said "Oh, honey, you are doing that baby wrong by walking on the treadmill. You need to stay in bed all day and rest." MYOB you old witch!

I worked out at the gym all the way through my pregnancy including running on the treadmill until about 30 weeks. When it got to be too much on my knees, I opted for walking on a good incline and using the elliptical. I still did weight lifting too, but modified based on my doctor's suggestion. I got lots of looks and some comments. Many were positive admiring the hard work and effort. Some were ingnorant and some were completely rude (suggesting I was putting my baby at risk for my own vanity). I would say something (TRYING to sound positive and nice) to the effect that exercise is proven to be good for both baby and mom and that I was following doctors orders. That was usually satisfactory for most. If someone were really rude, I'd suggest that perhaps they read up on current pregnancy guidelines before critizing someone they didn't know. There was one grumpy old man that I got so frustrated with that I ended up saying something like, "unless you're an Obstitrician or you've had a baby yourself in the last 10 years, I don't think you're qualified to tell me what to do". That shut him up and caused a ripple of laughter from others that overheard.

Through out both of my pregnancies my mother always referred to it as "your condition". STFU...it's a natural process...our ancestors would carry back loads of food on their backs, toddlers etc. strapped to their fronts, pregnant etc.

:drinker: Congrats! You are right! You are pregnant not dieing! Lol! I love it when old men give advice on this, because they've had a baby right?!?! I had an old guy yell at me when I was preg with my first. Listen to your body. It will tell you if you are doing too much. The stronger you are the easier the pregnancy/delivery will be. I wish the best! Enjoy that beautiful new blessing (when it gets here)

There was a lot of my times in my pregnancies that I said, "I am pregnant, not glass/Disabled!"

I'm not sure it matters what age we are in. Both my daughters are grown and I now have 2 grandchildren. My doctor encouraged me to watch my weight and exercise when I pregnant. The only things he told me not to do was ride a horse or motorcycle.

People tend to overeat during pregnancy now much more than they did in my 'age'. In my era it was still PC to tell people they were too fat and most women wanted to be skinny.

lol...this has nothing to do with excersize, but an old lady told me to drink milk or I wouldn't have any when I had my son...
