Question on FitBit - double counting?

Hi Everyone! So, I use the fitbit and have it linked to my account. I have my account set to "lightly Active" and then I have noticed that when I reach a certain number of steps it starts adding to my exercise calories burned. Does that calorie threshhold change depending on which activity setting you have? For instance, if "lightly active" basically means like 6000 steps per day, then when my fitbit starts adding exercise calories at 4000 steps is it double counting against the standards set in mfp? I feel like I'm not asking this question right but if anyone has insight on how Fitbit and MFP integrate that would be great! Thanks!

I've got the same question. I topped 18000 steps according to my fitbit and it added an extra 600 calories to my daily caloric budget (but 5000 steps were from running and that was also counted). It's confusing.

Update... there is a box in the settings area about allowing negative adjustments when linked to fitbit that needs to be checked. Mine wasn't. We'll see in the next few days if that eliminates the double counting because I do like to record my exercise:

    Change Handling of Partner Adjustments
If you have linked your MyFitnessPal account to a device or app that measures your total calorie burn (Fitbit, Bodymedia, etc.), check this box to allow negative calorie adjustments from that partner to appear on your exercise diary. Otherwise, only positive adjustments will be allowed. Changes to this setting will be in effect only for adjustments received from that point on (past adjustments will not be restated).

The amount of your fitbit adjustment in your diary depends on your settings.
If you go to Mfp my home>goals. You will see a number for calories burned from normal activity on the top right of the page.
When Mfp syncs with fitbit it looks at this number and adjust up or down(if you have negative adj enable on Mfp)
