Alcohol

I am off out tonight and will be consuming alcohol. I haven't had any since for about a month, I am not a big drinker. Thing is, I am now counting calories and although I have planned for today to be a bit of a treat day (I know I'll go over calories!) but I still want to be as good as I can.
I usually drink cider or Jack Daniels and coke.
Cider is out of the question and if I go for JD it will deffo be with diet coke or pepsi max. Is there any other better choices out there? The only thing I can't drink is Vodka, as it makes me ill.

Wine? Just avoid cocktails - those things are evil! Have a great night!0

I'm out tonight too.
I've counted for 5 x Gin and slimline tonic. I'll alternate with sparkling waters.0 -
Purely for calorie counting purposes, spirit + low calorie mixer is generally your best bet.

Ahh yes, I love Gin... I should imagine that's better than JD too...
Just looking through the calories in alcohol and it' s a bit frightening...0 -

Anything with soda water, you can add cordial to this to make it sweeter but lessen the cals, i drink vodka&soda which comes in at about 60 cals a glass BUT as you cant drink vodka, rum with blackcurrent cordial and soda water is yummy! That comes in at about 80 cals a glass. It's about cutting down the sugar content and choose an alcohol which is lower on its sugar content.
Gin and low cal tonic (diet) is good too!0 -
Yup, Gin & Tonic is a good choice...found this link that lists other low-cal cocktails...

Spirits with a diet soft drink definitely best so gin and tonic, Bacardi and coke etc all lower than wine have a great night.0

I am a nightmare when I go out on the lash. It's not very often but when I do I will literally cane about 1500 on booze alone.
My view is it's my blow out and I hate the idea of going out and thinking about counting every single drink and mixer.
just enjoy yourself!0 -

I agree - i wodl jsut rather have a great drink i really love. Im proababley lucky as any more than 3 drinks and i fall over so cant actually do too much damage but i think if you are goign to drink, ENJOY IT!0 -
I usually go for vodka or everclear with diet coke, but rum and diet coke sounds decent too.0

I rarely drink but when I do, it's mixed with diet soda. Depending on alcohol choice, it's usually 70-100 calories/drink.0

Whats wrong with cider?
I will usually have 2 good beers, I can make them last a wile. That's only 400 calories for the night.
Gin works good too, JD, One night isn't going to derail you.0 -
Jack & diet sounds smart. Remember that weight-loss/fitness is a marathon and not a sprint. One spectacular workout doesn't make a person fit. By the same token, one night could never knock you off the path, even if you decided to eat an entire birthday cake topped with deep-dish pizza. (mmmm.... pizza cake...)
Enjoy your night, stick with the drink plan and tomorrow (after your head clears) get right back on the wagon.0 -
If you like Beer try Mich Ultra. 96 calories and 2.6 carbs. I can have 3 beers instead of one small cocktail. But that is just me. I like beer. Also agree with Lugemachine above. One night won't derail your progress. Have fun!0

Have fun toninght♥0

I don't usually drink out because I put my entertainment budget elsewhere, but at home I've been mixing vodka, soda, and a dash of a flavoured sugar-free Torani syrup such as cherry or raspberry. Not enough to make it sweet, just enough to give it a little flavour. Or skip the syrup and squeeze in a lime. Or do both. Lot's of choices.0

Frankly if you don't drink usually, not worry about it. One or two drinks of any type isn't going to hurt you. Worrying about it will do you more harm.0

How about wine spritzers? Half the wine and mix it with diet 7 Up or sparkling water. Its light, not too bad calorie wise, and you feel like you're drinking something special. Just don't start drinking shooters...you'll end up hating yourself in the morning for many reasons0

Lite beer is around 100 calories a bottle. There are a few (Molson 67, Labatt 55) that go below that.0

The clearer the alcohol and the less abv then the less calories it is.
Basically less alcohol in the drink, water it down.
Enjoy :drinker:0 -
Don't count it. Go back to your diet tomorrow! It is one night. Have fun! END thread/0

craziest thing I've ever read, gin better than Jack?!?!ha
get Jack on the rocks. drinking alcohol with sweet mixers means you'll probably drink more than you would, if it were straight.0 -
Usually, keeping it simple is your best choice calorie-wise, but it is a night off so why not just enjoy in moderation (and enjoy what you truly like)0
-
If I wasn't too dumb to double quote Kuntry_Navy and Suns.....But they're both right.
Sweet mixers aren't that good an idea because most people tend to drink more. But drink whatever you like.
You could get knee-walking, gutter-hugging tanked and still not gain even a pound. In fact, if you get a little too hungover and feel a little unwell in the morning, there's a good chance you could lose a couple pounds.
