So...

So... if your neighbour, who you've spoken to all of twice in a year, knocks on your door and says they are moving out and can they leave some stuff in your fridge/freezer for a day because they are moving the fridge today but don't have power at the new place, and you say sure and they don't come back the next day... how long do you hang onto their stuff for before you chuck/eat it?

And by stuff I mean condiments, sauces, tomatoes, steak in the freezer, and some weird beauty regime stuff that apparently needs to be refrigerated.

When the food's at risk of nearly expiring - it's yours to do what you'd like with. It'd have just gone to waste otherwise.

they didn't leave you a phone number that you could call them on? I'd eat the food as it seems like they forgot about it. If it was me moving, I'd just give the food to a neighbour, i.e. "we're moving, this stuff won't survive the journey, I don't like wasting food, would you like any of it?"

. . . a seriously good prank that's never occurred to me. Duly noted.

From the looks of your avatar you're neighbour came back and you ate them too.

I did this once to my neighbours but instead I marinated it with my 'little swimmers' and got them all pregnant! I've got more kids running around than I even know about!

So I came home today to a note on the door asking me to message her with a time she can get her stuff... Seriously? 10 days later? It's all quite odd.

I've been asked some strange things by neighbors. We had some neighbors once that kept coming over to ask to borrow the toilet plunger. That's not really the sort of thing you want back. :noway:

    Umm...
if it were me, I wouldn't have agreed to store their stuff unless I knew them well.
And coming back ten days later?? Sounds like they were taking advantage of you.
    kind regards,

    Ben

That exact thing happened to me! They never came back for it, so we now have their ice trays. We ate the food after about a week, but it was all freezer food. For fridge food, I wouldn't wait for it to go bad!

I ended up with a really nice Weber grill when a neighbor asked to leave it for a week or two. They never came back for it.

Aw man, all I got was cheap steak, some home brand condiments and some whacky skin care stuff.

wait ten days to reply to the note - and eat everything that you can in the process. oh, and apply any applicable post beauty regime items left as well. 10 days worth.

Tell them the truth. It was ten days, you couldn't have known they were coming back. I hope the steak was good :-)
