NSV - Being called "skinny"

My friend and I were talking about a girl today, and I referred to her as "that skinny girl". My friend looked at me very seriously and said, "you know you are skinny, too? Right?".

Who? Me? I honestly don't think of myself that way... After being obese for the majority of my life, I still feel like a bigger person.

It felt nice to be compared to a girl who I think has a very nice figure. Hopefully one of these days I will see myself the way the rest of the world does.

I am also my own worst critic and tend to see myself in the mirror as bigger than I am. I hope that will go away!!

My massage therapist called me "tiny" the other day - I was like "Ummm, who are you talking about?" lol
  • Well own it and enjoy it. Such an achievement. Well done

    Awwww... Thanks! You too!

This is why I love MFP, so many people here with the same goals, who "get it".

Funny how it takes time to truly see our new selves...and it's wonderful that your friend pointed out to you how they see you've changed. I had the same thing happen just last night and it gave me a real boost. Good for you for making the "change".

    Yay! You, too!
  • Hi, this made me smile, I have been in maintenance since November 2012. Someone put their hands on my waist the other week and said "Blimey you're really slim" Someone else referred to me as a "skinny witch" (In a fun way) and I have only just realized and accepted the huge fact that I am a UK size 8-10.

We are our own worst critics, I sometimes still see myself as bigger and gravitate towards larger clothes, not until they drown me does it hit home once again.

Enjoy being called skinny. You have done so well. You go girl. xx
