I know there is probably a very simple answer to this question but here it goes anyway. A potato weighing 100 grams is about 100 calories, so why are 81 grams of tator tots (which I assume are just shredded potato) 160 calories?

My guess would be that they're made up of more than just raw potatoes. (?) look at the package of tater tots where the ingredients are listed. i bet theres a lot more than just potatoes listed on there. That's just my guess. i don't have anything here to go by for reference..0

I agree... Generally prepackaged stuff has more in it then just the main ingredient....
If you made your own taters they'd be the same calorie count...0 -
Google the label. 2nd ingredient: vegetable oil.0
