In March 2008, I decided that I needed to lose weight before my wedding or I would never forgive myself. So I lost 30 lbs and (I think) I looked and felt fabulous at my January 2009 wedding.

But then life crept back up on me....as did all 30 lbs and 13.6 on top of that. So on April 24, 2010, I decided to do something about it. I felt so much better about my self at 183 lbs. I wasn't done losing weight, but I felt more confident, healthier, stronger and more beautiful.

Part of me wants to wallow in shame over losing 30lbs and then gaining 43.6lbs back!! I told myself that I would never see the 200s again...and here I am.

But then I realized that shame won't help me. Looking back at how I USED to look and feel and wishing for the past wouldn't help me. But I knew what would help me. I can concentrate on those 30lbs lost as PROOF that I can do this. I know I can lose this weight, because I've done it before. No magic pills, no surgeries, no overnight fixes...but I did it: one day at a time.

So I'm going to do it again: One day at a time. And every time I feel like I can't do it anymore, I'll realize that I KNOW I can. Because I have.

  • good for you for taking control! you can definitely do this! i have a kind of similar story. had lost 15 pounds and was feeling great and looking awesome, until things turned for the worse and before i knew it the 15 came back plus an extra 12. ohhh how easy it is to just take a million steps backwards! but i am here, and ready to slim down again! you, me, and everyone else on this site can do it! good luck :]
  • Good luck with it and don't think of it as a diet. That's what I've found the best, and I'm really enjoying it. I have it on my iphone so find it easy to add my food each time I eat something. I'm only on 1200 cals a day as I'd like to lose 2p a week. But I let my self eat what I want but. If I want that piece of choc and only have 80cals left I do step at home, so then I can have that Chocolate, or what ever it is. Good luck and have fun.

That's a great way to look at it! I know what you're going through though. The first time I sucessully lost weight I started at 215, worked HARD and got to 176 then gained all the way back up to almost 250. It happened so quick. I couldn't believe it when I got on the scale. Never thought I would see the 200s again but I really passed that and my starting weight! I'd have never thought it.

But, like you, I learned that I CAN do it, and I have! I still have a lot to lose, but I know I will because I've done it twice now.

One good thing about it is now you and I both know how easily it can be regained, and know that we must stick with it once the weight is gone. It's a constant battle, but it can be won.

Good luck reaching your goals - you can do it!

I lost 52 + lbs back in 2001-2002 and managed to keep it off for 4-5 years. Then I got pregnant - TWICE and the aftermath was 70lbs back on.

It sucked, but it was understandable.

Now that I'm losing it all over again, I like to focus on what I know is ahead - especially compliments! I forgot how much I love people complimenting me on my success :)

Unfortunately, I can't do it for you....I'd LOVE to find someone to do it for me! BUT...everyone here can help motivate you to do it yourself. They say, Give a man a fish and he'll be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll be fed for a lifetime. :)
