The fave gadget thread has me heading to Costco this weekend to purchase one. I love smoothies but rarely make them at home as I hate cleaning all the blender parts. Share your favorite a fave recipe you make with your blender.

I don't have any faves yet but looking forward to trying a Watermelon Lime Frosty http://pinterest.com/pin/7740630581193425/ and this Berry Ice Cream http://pinterest.com/pin/7740630581750177/

I just received my Vitamix so I don't have a fave yet, but since it seems you're in the market for a blender, I HAD to comment... This beast of a machine is AMAZING & easy to clean too. It's incredible how fast it obliterated the frozen fruit I put in it. It literally took less than 30 seconds :drinker:

Ooooo! Smoothies are my little slice of heaven.

My fav atm is a cantaloupe smoothie.
    1 banana
1/4 ripe ripe cantaloupe, seeded and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup nonfat or low-fat yogurt
    2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk
1 1/2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate
    2 teaspoons honey
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Another I've been really wanting to try is a kiwi smoothie
3/4 cup of 100 percent fruit juice, such as grape or apple,
    1/2 cup of milk,
    3 peeled and chopped kiwis
    1/2 cup of frozen grapes

I haven't tried this one but I was just looking up another recipe 'berry, cinnamon' and this came up. It looks amazing!

The best thing about smoothies is one you get the basic formula down you can get creative. I have a couple of pages of recipes in my recipe file on smoothies but I don't bother looking at them any more. Hope these gave you some ideas :))))
  • I was going to break out the Blender of the Apocalypse last night to try this:

Three tbsp Jif (only freaking Jif) creamy peanut butter
    One cup red grapes
    One banana
    Two cups frozen raspberries
    Two tbsp strawberry cream cheese
    Flaxseed (own preference)
    One small container plain yogurt
    One cup 1% milk
    Splash of chocolate syrup

But wasn't sure about the path of nutrition that would put me on, so I came here for ideas.

It's verry simple but the one i looooove is

    225 ml yoghurt
    3/4 cup frozen bleu berries
    1 medium banana

if you freez your banana first it will get really creamy!

    enjoy♥
  • I make green smoothies a lot.
They were weird at first and I would pound them- now I crave them, and make them almost daily.

    Here's how I do it....

    2 c greens
(Kale or spinach or beet tops or dandelion greens, whatever)

    +

    1 c liquid
    (Water, almond or coconut milk)

    +

    1/2 c frozen fruit
(Strawberries, peaches, mangoes, grapes, whatever you like)

    +

The flavor punch- be creative, mix more than one if you like...
    (1/2 tbsp fresh ginger or
    1/2 cucumber or
    1/4 lime or lemon or
    1 small beet)

If you like it sweet, add 1-2 drops of stevia.
*1 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa in a beet smoothie is red velvet

Great recipes!! Adding them all to my file.

Thanks for the heads up on the Vitamix but that one is WAY more than what I would spend for a appliance but it doesn't sound nice.

Must also try this one for a dash of goodness everynow and then. Will have to get a quiet blender or I'll wake the neighbour's bub next door in morning,

Yes! Try a green smoothie of some kind! I've been doing:

    1 frozen banana
    1/2 cup frozen strawberries
    1/2 cup water
1 serving Vega chocolate protein powder
    2 cups spinach

    So good!

I make a Cinnamon Bun recovery shake after my Insanity workout. It's smooth, rich, full of protien and gives me the sweetness I need to stay away from the chocolate or real cinnamon buns!!

    -1 frozen banana (sliced)
    -1 cup vanilla almond milk
    -1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    -2 tablespoons peanut butter

    Blend and enjoy!!
  • Black Bean Avocado Fudge Brownie

    Ingredients
1 (15.5 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 egg plus 2 egg whites
1/3 of a large ripe avocado
1 teaspoon olive or canola oil
1/3 cup, plus 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/4 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup sugar or sugar substitute of choice
    3 tablespoons chocolate chips
    Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 8×8 inch baking pan.
Place all ingredients besides chocolate chips into blender or food processor. Process or puree until ingredients form a smooth batter. Pour into prepared pan, sprinkle with chocolate chips, nuts, or swirl in peanut butter and bake for 35-40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out somewhat clean and top of the brownies begin to crack.
Cool pan completely on wire rack then cut into 16 squares.

    My hands down number one favourite is ;

    200g of frozen banana slices
    200-250 ml of milk
& 1/2 tsp of French vanilla extract

If you wanna be extra decadent you could use coconut milk in place of whatever milk youd otherwise use.

    Protein Shake
1 scoop - Designer Whey Vanilla Protein Powder
1/4 tsp sugar free vanilla pudding dry mix
    6oz cold water
half of a banana (I like mine to be frozen)
    1Tbl of Natural Peanut Butter
    1Cup crushed ice

Blend away - if you would like it thicker or creamier you can sub water and use skim milk.
