Coffee grounds vs Starbucks coffee

At work we have a coffee machine, where in one side we fill with coffee grounds and other side with water, it is Impressa and Jura brand machine I think (not sure) and I make coffee from it often. And sometimes when I am outside I drink white chocolate mocha from Starbucks without cream.

So I fail to understand how can coffee brewed grounds can be 2 calories, while Starbucks WCM is 430 calories. Okay there is milk in WCM, but milk alone cannot be 428 calories. I don't add any sugar or anything.

Any ideas?

Milk, especially whole milk, is high in calories and fat t. Add flavoring, order a Venti, and it would be easy to get to 400 calories. Black coffee has virtually none.

Espresso with white chocolate flavored sauce and steamed milk. Topped with sweetened whipped cream. <-- from the Starbucks website - not only is there milk, there's a sugary sauce and sweetened whip cream - all of which have calories.

But I always order it with out topping, which means no sweetened whip cream.

Therefore it would be less calories. I've always wondered how many calories where in shepherds pie without the potatoes.

What about the milk and the white chocolate? You need to look at the ingredients more carefully.
A Venti latte with nonfat milk and no sugar is about 200 calories.

um the white chocolate mocha fairy doesnt just place flavor there by magic and it's not like there's a white chocolate mocha coffee bean tree where the beans are grown from

the bottled flavoring syrup that they add to make the PLAIN coffee into FLAVORED coffee also has a bunch of calories.

Unless you ask for low/nonfat milk, it's going to to be around 150~ cal in milk and an equal amount in mocha syrup on top on that. Seems about right imo.

Well I can easily live without Starbucks, but I cannot live without the coffee machine at work.

Therefore I was more worried about the work coffee being something like 50-100 calories instead of 2 calories, that's why I was comparing it to Starbukcs one.

Most white chocolate flavourings involve a large blob of condensed sweetened milk. And then they'll add sugar and syrup. It's the same with milkshakes. Check the ingredients and measure out how much sugar is in every one.. Then you'll understand the difference.

So long as the work coffee isn't flavored and you drink it black, it probably is 2 calories a cup.
