Your favorite strength training exercises?

I've always been a cardio person, I'll admit that, but I know I have to branch out more. I moved into an apartment building with a gym in it, but sadly all it has is two treadmills and two ellipticals! A friend of mine gave me an old weight set of his and it's two dumbbell weights that can be changed from 5 pounds each to 25 pounds each and I'd like to start using them more for a strength training regime.

Anyone out there have simple strength training exercises they really like that involve little to no equipment?

  • Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength has been working for me. You need a barbell for that though.

    lunges, bulgarian squats, a barbell would expand your options quite a bit

    Are they dumbells?

    Shoulder press, Chest Press, lat raise, upright row.....

    I have been doing some body weight exercises and I've found them very effective. I'm not really trying to build muscle now since I'm losing, but I do want to maintain what I have. Yoga is great for strengthening and toning and you need minimal equipment.
