what do you tell yourself

What are somethings that you tell yourself to keep you going on the days it seems so hard to keep going and when you feel like you're not seeing the results you want

I use to just give up and say I'll stick to it next year, I'm not doing that anymore I wanna stick with this

So what are some of the things you do or say to make you stick to this when you feel like giving up?

you've got this - you know you can finish just keep going. prove to yourself you can finish. you're stronger than you give yourself credit. then i resort to come on fat *kitten* move it. stop being a baby and finish you're not a quitter. quitting is for losers. just keep going and suck it up fatty. yes these are all the things i say to myself when i am out running. of course it helps that i have a 10k coming up in april and a half marathon coming up in june BOTH i paid for and I HATE throwing money away. i also say you just paid $165 to run this half marathon you're NOT GOING TO WALK! so get moving, move it move it move it.

yup those are just some of things i say while i'm running and i'm ready to quit. oh and on some days the language is HORRIBLE but i won't write that stuff. lol

I say to myself. You may be 32, AND they all may be in their young 20's, but age is just a number and you can still run circles around them.

I also say to myself, What's that matter, you know you would do this if you were 19 and I push even harder. I am my OWN motivator and I believe that anyone can be just that. You have to have the will and the drive, so I remind myself that in order to be the best, I have to want it, and yup, I still want it!

I'm a people pleaser and am very good at putting others before me. I hired a trainer and buddied up with a friend for a 12-week challenge. So, when I want to talk myself out of doing this I can't because I have made commitments to others. I don't want to disappoint them and in turn am helping myself.

I also remind myself how much better I feel and that I like the way my clothes are getting too big. I'd hate to take steps backwards when things are going so well.

I think of it like doing your homework so you don't fail your classes. If you want to graduate, you make time to do your homework no matter how much it cuts into time with friends and sleep, right? So why not make time to exercise?

Another way is to think about it like medicine. Some people have to take medicine every day for one reason or another. Exercise is medicine because it helps you lose weight and keeps you healthy. So why wouldn't you take your "medicine" every day?

There are lots of things we don't like doing but do anyway because we have to: laundry, chores, work, etc. Exercise is one of those things. It really helps if you find something you like. I get bored with the gym, so sometimes I do dance workouts so I don't dread that time every day. I love dancing. :)

I have always yo yo with my weight. This time I'm taking photos every 4 weeks. This is my motivation. Hoping it will keep my motivated when I reach goal weight also. When thinking of having a bad day can look back at my "fat" photos and decide I don't want to be that way again.

I saw this quote on someone else's page and it has stuck with me: "One year from now, you'll be so glad you started today."

This is true. I started in mid-April last year. I should be down about 70 pounds by mid-April this year. I never, ever thought I could get this far.

Want to sit in an airplane seat without asking for a seat belt extension? So make the right choice, girl!

Do not buy potato chips. Do not even walk down that aisle in the grocery store. It's your trigger and you know it, so don't load the gun.

I am worth it! I am worth the weight I'll lose by not eating more than the serving size of whatever it is. I am worth this workout so I can feel good about myself. I have several motivational quotes on my weight room wall, but I AM WORTH IT! is smack dab in the middle in big bold letters. That is my mantra. :)

I tell myself to look at my Mom in law. Only 73 yo and living in a nursing home, unable to walk. Has had 3 heart attacks and 4 strokes. Her body is slowly dying from heart disease and out of control diabetes. The family can say all they want that it is genetics, but 90% of her medical problems could have been avoided. They were self inflicted. No one can tell me that it is genetics when she used to eat a half gallon of ice cream every night in one sitting. No one can tell me that genetics caused her to eat nothing but fried foods, and foods smothered in gravies and cheese and sauces. No one can tell me that it is genetics that won't allow her to touch a vegetable, or go for a walk.

    Those are lazy excuses.

I feel so bad for her because she could have had such a better life if she only took care of herself. And then I remind myself that I was headed that way too. The world is different now, people live longer than 73 and I plan to do my best to give myself the best chances of staying healthy longer.

I also have a pair of goal jeans sitting on the dresser. I try them on every week. I couldn't get them past my knees a while ago. Now they're mid-way up my thighs. I'd like to be able to button them at the beginning of May.

Rather than tell myself anything, I just force myself to put on exercise clothes. We tend to take on the role of what we're wearing. If my jammies are on then I'm lounging. But if I just solely make the attempt to put on exercise clothes and tie up my sneakers, all of a sudden I find that I want to exercise.

"Just stick with it for one more night, you can quit tomorrow if you still feel like it." Usually I wake up the next morning feeling great after having worked out the day before and eating sensible, I no longer feel like giving up.

I remind myself of the past 5 years where I have lost weight from Jan-May, maintained through summer, then regained all that I lost from Oct-Dec. I remind myself that every January I regret regaining and my thoughts are filled with how much further along I could be if only I'd stuck it out.

I remember that January 2013 was the first year in forever that i haven't had to feel that regret because I have been able to continue losing and maintain my current loss.
